Apixaban for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was on Eliquis for three weeks prior to a cardioversion. Made me feel tired, fatigued, no motivation. I would get a headache in the afternoon and wake up with a headache. Sometimes I felt woozy, almost dizzy. After the cardioversion, I went to 1/2 tablet for a week. The side effects were somewhat less, but still terrible. I didn't feel like doing anything, dishes piled up in the sink, house didn't get swept, I just felt like sitting. I stopped taking it, and the next day I felt great. Not doing this again."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "I was put on Eliquis by my MD just because he liked it better than Warfarin. I was previously on Warfarin with no problems. On Eliquis, I have experienced severe muscle spasms and weakness. I am also very tired, eyes are blurry, nose bleeds, weight gain, itching, and just general malaise. I asked my doctor several times to take me off Eliquis and put me back on Warfarin. He refused. I changed doctors, got off the Eliquis, and back on Warfarin. I now feel so much better, and my muscles are getting stronger, and I have my energy back. This Eliquis is poison to me. I also will note I had no A-Fib. I never did. Listen to your body. It knows best."

Apixaban for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was diagnosed with afib about 6 years ago. Given flecainide and told to take 2 low-dose aspirin. Recently, the doctor told me aspirin was not sufficient to prevent a stroke. He prescribed Eliquis 5mg twice a day. I have been suffering from headaches. They feel like pressure on the top of my head. In addition, I am very tired and I don't feel as though I think as clearly. I will be seeing the doctor next week. I hope he takes me off this medication. I honestly do not feel well. I am 72 years of age."

Apixaban for Pulmonary Embolism "I was 23 when I developed my first DVT and was instantly put on Xarelto. Being low risk, I was told to go on with normal activity. Xarelto left me feeling exhausted after minimal activity. Two days later, my DVT moved through my heart, into my lungs causing a PE. I was put on Heparin while in the hospital. Left the hospital a few days later and resumed Xarelto with the continued awful side effects. I continued to experience chest pain, shortness of breath, and extreme exhaustion. My doctor thought I was having a reaction to the medicine so they switched me to Eliquis. Since then, I have had zero side effects. I have my life back for once. Love that you don't need to have your INR checked, and foods don't counteract the drug."

Apixaban for Pulmonary Embolism "I had a PE in August 2019. A blood clot went from my left calf to my lung. I had never had any issues related to blood clots before. While in the hospital, I was diagnosed as having Lupus Anticoagulant Disorder. I was sent home on Coumadin. I hated the side effects and how they made me feel. I had no energy and felt so lethargic. I went from having long hair past my butt to my hair being in a pixie-like cut. Coumadin made my hair fall out. And let's not even get started on the weekly to sometimes twice-weekly protime blood work. My INR was up and down and my fingers so sore and bruised from checks. Fast forward to April 2020, and the doctor finally switched me to Eliquis. I've had no side effects so far, and I'm so happy to be off Coumadin I could cry. For that, it has been a godsend. Now, as far as copay is concerned, I am on Medicaid, and it paid the full cost. I am not sure about others."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Put on Eliquis for a DVT in leg due to May Thurner Syndrome. I’ve felt really tired on it (5 mg twice a day). Also gained weight despite exercising and eating the same. Have taken it for just over four months and have developed another DVT whilst taking this as prescribed."

Apixaban for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "After being on Eliquis 5 mg twice per day for a few weeks, I had severe bleeding from the nose, mouth, small abrasion on the arm, genital area, etc. Could not get an appointment with the doctor---nurse had me reduce it to 2.5 mg twice per day and told me I could cut the 5 mg tablets in half, which I later found should not be done apparently because cutting causes some loss of the tablet. Continue to have excessive bleeding with minor scrapes and cuts for long periods. Also, no appetite, no energy, difficulty keeping balance, and the sensation of the body 'swirling:' causing a fall off the commode with a huge bruise, increased loss of urine, and progressive decline in vision. Did not have these problems when on Coumadin some time ago."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Been on Eliquis for about a month, and they found a blood clot in my vein leading to my ovary, which is now gone, but the side effects are horrible. I’ve been extremely tired, no energy, headaches, gaining weight, swollen ankles and legs, dizzy, can’t concentrate. Was taking 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night, which was even worse because I felt like passing out, blood pressure dropped real low, and I was really dizzy, so they cut it down to 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night, so side effects didn’t change much. I want off this medicine."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I have been on apixaban since last September, but the last few months feeling unwell, a lot of joint pain, started in my legs then neck and eyes blurring, now in my arm, so tired all the time. I just want to see, as I'm going to ask to come off it as it makes me also feel sick at times. I can't go on feeling like this, I don't have a life, went on holiday the pain was really bad, not a good drug for side effects."

"Have taken 5 mg twice a day for almost 8 years. I have been suffering for so long, but doctors don't listen. About 4 months ago, I started to reduce the amount I was taking as my walking or standing was so unbearable. Both legs had red patch areas that did not heal with any creams, and I've gained so much weight and feel tired. Life has become really not worth much. I now take 75 mg of aspirin, and I'm beginning to see a difference. I can't understand how any professional person could give this to anyone. If you are suffering and feel your doctor is not listening, back yourself up and find someone who will listen."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I was prescribed apixaban for blood clots and possible pulmonary embolism (PE). The clots are gone, and I do not have a PE. Maybe the medicine helped, maybe it was something else. However, I experienced dizziness, muscle weakness, nausea, and being tired most of the day. Looking to ease the effects, I get told to stand slowly! Almost the entire day is spent feeling horrible. Is there really any benefit to staying on this medication for another month?"

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I am a 25-year-old male who took apixaban 2x a day due to DVT related to a rugby injury. Whilst on the drug, I had no energy and was miserable. I'm glad my 3 months are over, and I'm away from these now. A week off and I already feel like myself again. Over the period, my resting heart rate has gone up from 56 to 68, and I have gained 10 kg."
