Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "I'm 21. Despite being active, managed to get a DVT in the last weeks of pregnancy. Was on Fragmin injections, then was swapped to this tablet, 5 mg twice a day. Not noticed any physical changes to my affected leg, swelling is still apparent. Feel dizzy and on the verge of fainting more than three times a day... that's the side effect I have had."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "I've been on Eliquis for a little over a month now. Started on the 7 days, 20 mg, and am now on the 10 mg dose until Oct. I sometimes feel dizzy or get mild headaches while on it. The headaches come and go. I can't wait to be off it."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Been on this med, Eliquis, for almost 2 months, but also going through chemo. Been having dizziness and feeling lightheaded. I attributed it to chemo, but after reading other reviews, can't rule out that Eliquis may be the problem."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "I used it once for DVT while in the hospital. Experienced severe dizziness and headache on the left side of my head all day and an overall ill feeling. I decided not to take it. I used Xarelto in the past for PE with no major side effects and will most likely go back to this."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis, Prophylaxis "I had a heart valve replacement in January '01. Although the Eliquis TV commercials explicitly state NOT to be used by artificial heart valve recipients, my cardiologist prescribed it at 5 mg twice daily. The first month was okay, then I was getting dizzy spells and loss of balance when standing and walking. I reviewed the side effects online and found that Eliquis can cause vertigo. My daily life is miserable. I told my doctor, but he refuses to change the script or to cut back on the dosage. I guess it is effective against my Afib as I have no known sessions, but.....my quality of life is nil..."

Apixaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Been on Eliquis for about a month, and they found a blood clot in my vein leading to my ovary, which is now gone, but the side effects are horrible. I’ve been extremely tired, no energy, headaches, gaining weight, swollen ankles and legs, dizzy, can’t concentrate. Was taking 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night, which was even worse because I felt like passing out, blood pressure dropped real low, and I was really dizzy, so they cut it down to 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night, so side effects didn’t change much. I want off this medicine."

For Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "This medication, apixaban, is awful. I take 5 mg twice a day, it causes me dizziness several times a day, though each bout only lasts for a second. My fingers and body continue to tingle for several seconds afterward, not to mention the ringing in my ears. Additionally, I itch all over and have sores on my head. It has got to the point where I have just resigned from my job as a development manager, as I felt uncomfortable on the occasions this happened when dealing with customer problems."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I was diagnosed with a DVT while on vacation in November 2019 and subsequently discovered I have May-Thurner Syndrome. The first month on Eliquis, I felt terrible. Dizzy, fatigue, the doctor said this is the best medicine for me. These side effects did go away, however, I gained some weight and started going to WE and having a difficult time losing weight. Discouraging!"

For Pulmonary Embolism "I developed PE due to not moving around because of a car accident. I'm a 34-year-old female, healthy, active, never had health problems. I was put on Eliquis, 2 tablets daily for a month, then one tablet twice a day (5 mg). After two months, the blood clot got dissolved. Currently, I am under Eliquis. I was fine for those two months, then after starting to work, I was dying from the lots of side effects: shortness of breath, chest pain and tightness, trouble breathing and sleeping, back pain. I barely can walk normally and more than 20 steps. Palpitations and dizziness. At some point, I thought my lungs and heart were failing. I don't have an answer yet to my worsening symptoms. The doctor refused to lower or change my medication until I see the cardiologist and pulmonologist, saying it's risky and I can develop more blood clots. I can't wait to see if I have some improvement lowering the dose or being taken off of this medication. This life is a nightmare."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I was prescribed apixaban for blood clots and possible pulmonary embolism (PE). The clots are gone, and I do not have a PE. Maybe the medicine helped, maybe it was something else. However, I experienced dizziness, muscle weakness, nausea, and being tired most of the day. Looking to ease the effects, I get told to stand slowly! Almost the entire day is spent feeling horrible. Is there really any benefit to staying on this medication for another month?"

For Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I had a heart attack and underwent an emergency double heart bypass. There were complications that left me in an induced coma for 17 days. This was three years ago. I was only 47 years old. I had a defibrillator/pacemaker fitted. Two weeks ago, it activated. I had made a huge effort over the past three months to address my health. I lost 21 kg in weight. I didn't crash diet but more so drank protein shakes and fruit. Then all of a sudden, I kept feeling dizzy. I had lost a lot of energy. Even walking 100 meters was difficult. Then my defibrillator activated. I was taken to the hospital. My defibrillator was adjusted and I was placed on apixaban. Within hours, I felt great."

For Pulmonary Embolism "I am not sure if it is all related, but I have been on Eliquis for 8 weeks after 5 months on Xarelto. I changed because of dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps, and back pain. The switch got rid of fatigue and dizziness. Cramps are better. Now my hip has severe arthritis, gout, and cysts. I hurt everywhere. Can’t sleep, ache so much just waking up. My doctors are no help. Need to know if anyone has any symptoms."
