Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I have had rheumatoid arthritis for 40 years. I got it at age 4. This medication has now been taken off the market, and I am finding my world getting very small. I have taken it for the past 12 years, no heart problems at all. My doctor has given me Vicodin, and I'm a mess. Darvocet let me control pain by how much I needed on good or bad days without the side effects of these other medicines. I can't believe there is no other medicine on the market that works the way this one does, allowing me to live a more normal life. Why couldn't they have allowed long-time users to continue."

For Pain "Allergic to a lot of pain relievers, they gave this to me after my C-section with my 2nd child. Couldn't stand Percocet, so this was a welcome change. Worked great, only used it when pain from the scar hurt too much. Definitely take with food, will make you dizzy/tired."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I have a herniated disc and a bulging disc. I've taken Darvocet for over a year. I can't take Vicodin - it makes me throw up constantly. I have no problems with the Darvocet. Some days I take none, some days up to three. I have no problem not taking it (no addiction). It does not work for my migraines. I take Midrin for those, but they are rare. I am able to function perfectly at work taking Darvocet, and if it weren't for the Darvocet, I might not be able to work full-time."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I have been taking Darvocet for a while now. I take it for cramps, my horrible migraines, and now my horrible herniated disc, which is pressing on my nerves and giving me terrible pain in my legs. I can't sleep without taking it and find it truly helpful to get me through the day. This back pain is the worst, and I'm just happy I have something to help. I can't imagine having to go on without it and be in this much pain."

For Pain "I have a herniated disk in my lower back, and I also suffer from migraines. With Vicodin, I was relieved from most lower back pain, but if I had the slightest bit of a headache, the Vicodin just seemed to intensify the throbbing in my head. However, with the Darvocet, I am able to cope with the back pain and not have to worry about it triggering a more severe headache."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I use Darvocet for severe headaches if/when ibuprofen won't relieve the pain. I can take Darvocet and not have to miss work because of the headaches. The only (minor) side effect is a bit of drowsiness, which goes away after I drink my morning tea. The added benefit of the drowsiness is getting additional headache relief by sleeping (if I am at home). I hope and pray that the FDA's recent recommendation to withdraw it from the market is reconsidered. I would be lost without my Darvocet - I use it infrequently and only out of necessity, but I wouldn't take any other pain prescription to stop my headache pain. Saying that acetaminophen is as effective as Darvocet is a joke; Tylenol never relieves my pain when taken alone."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene "Darvocet has been helping me with back and fibromyalgia pain for many years. I take it sparingly and only when absolutely necessary. It has minimal side effects, and since I take it only at bedtime, I do not have drowsiness in the morning. I sleep well and have lessened pain for about 2 - 3 hours in the morning. I am lost without this help. My MD gave me Ultram, which does not help and causes dizziness in the morning. Everyone is different."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "For me, this is only slightly better than Tylenol, but it is what my doctor prescribes for me, so it is definitely better than nothing. I have no side effects from it, no sleepiness, upset stomach, etc."

For Pain "Following a heart attack, I was given Plavix and Lisinopril, and had a severe allergic reaction resulting in pain in my joints. Tried a few other, stronger painkillers, Darvocet 100/650 is the only thing that took the pain away. When I get up, I take 2, and I am pretty much pain-free within an hour, wonderful medicine! I do hope the FDA does not ban this medicine or perhaps mix it with aspirin instead of acetaminophen. I would certainly not want to give it up, no bad side effects, just pain relief."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I just had surgery to correct a deviated septum yesterday and have found that Darvocet does help with the pain, however, it only lasts about two and a half hours, meaning I am only able to sleep for a few hours at a time. I get terribly ill to my stomach with codeine and Vicodin and have not experienced this with the Darvocet, which is a huge plus."

For Pain "As a medical doctor specializing in pain management, I would highly recommend this drug for long-term pain patients. But I find it isn't as effective when used for short-term treatment for acute pain. It does not produce much of a high associated with other opiates, which is why using it for a long period of time is ideal. Acute pain tends to be more severe than chronic pain, so a stronger painkiller is usually recommended."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "Darvocet is a good pain reliever with just enough narcotic to make it effective. But trust me, it can become addictive like anything else. I just went through withdrawal symptoms yesterday and part of today and didn't know what was going on until I looked this up on the computer and then took some to relieve the symptoms. But I believe all in all, it's a safer alternative than other narcotics."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I used it for years as an intervention medicine to break cyclical migraines. I only needed it a couple of times a month, but when I needed it, nothing else worked. I'm currently non-functional without it, as I am either allergic or nonresponsive to other medications."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I have had headaches for as long as I can remember (25 yrs). When nothing works, you just suffer. When you find something that works, you have hope and are not so afraid of the pain. Darvocet is the only thing that works for me."

For Pain "I was taking it for my cramps after having my second child. Unfortunately, my doctor didn't pay attention to me about being prone to depression when he prescribed it. Not only did I start abusing it just to be able to be numb enough to function, I also became suicidal. I will agree, though, that it worked great for the pain."

For Pain "I am an RN, and I have been taking Darvocet N-100 for several months for a herniated disc in my lower back. It is a good drug for those of you who do not want or can't take other narcotics, but unfortunately, it is a narcotic, and like all the others, it has side effects and is addictive. I take it because I don't want to take Lortab and Percocet, which are even more addictive than Darvocet. If you have to take it, use caution and know what side effects to look for."

For Pain "I love it. It really helps me. I used it after carpal tunnel surgery, and I felt no pain with it. I'm using it again because I have kidney stones, and this is helping me again. My only problem with it is that after taking it for surgery, I had withdrawal symptoms for a day or two...a nasty headache. That was the only problem with it."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I have been on and off this drug in some form for over 40 years. I have had no problems of any kind. I am taking generic Butalbital Comp-Codeine #3. I can barely tell I have taken anything, my pain is still so bad. I have never gotten as good a result with their products."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "Darvocet and Vicodin make me really sick and dizzy, but if I start out taking 1/2 of a Darvocet and up the dose as needed and as handled, then I can use Vicodin if the pain is that bad, and I won't get sick. Sometimes I also take a Reglan at the same time, which usually cures the nausea for me."

For Pain "Take Darvocet for my fibromyalgia. Take it in the morning and I am pain-free for the rest of the day. The only side effect I experience is constipation. Great medicine! I have been on it for 3 years. I use it in combination with Pamelor. I feel human again!"

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "I just got my wisdom teeth out, and I'm allergic to codeine, so the doctor gave me Darvocet. It doesn't make me sleepy, but I am dizzy and find complex problem-solving difficult. It helps ease some of the sharp pains in my jaw, but I still have a dull, throbbing pain that keeps me from sleeping. If only Vicodin didn't make me vomit."

For Pain "Only thing that works after I've had a migraine for a while and when Tylenol Migraine or Imitrex don't work. Love it because it doesn't make me feel loopy or drowsy. Can take it and still work, and most of all because it works."

For Pain "I was prescribed this drug after I got a pilonidal cyst drained. It worked great to keep any pain from occurring. I found that it made me sleep a lot better if I was laying down and relaxing or already in bed, but it did not make me drowsy during the day or during activities."

For Pain "I recently had surgery to remove my gallbladder. I was surprised by how effective this medication is. I have taken other painkillers before, like hydrocodone, and they didn't seem to do much for me. Darvocet is really good for controlling pain. I was told to take two if needed, but one works just fine. I even felt a little dizzy from them."

Acetaminophen / propoxyphene for Pain "All this hoopla about the dangers of Darvocet. I used to take Tylenol 8 hour, but had to take it more than once or even more than twice a day, and it did not take away the horrible muscle spasms I was getting, especially at night. I take Darvocet at bedtime, one time, and it gets me through the night and the entire next day. It works for me, and I'm not changing."
