I have MS and my prescription provider no longer will pay for Lyrica. I didn't like the side effects of gabapentin which I took before Lyrica 5 years ago.
What is the best drug replacement for Lyrica?

I was on cymbalta as well and so many other drugs over the years and until recently I believed Xanax was the worst drug ever until I was put on Lyrica I feel this drug needs to be outlawed! I've only been on it 4 most and OMG it has totally wrecked me! It's affected my eyesight, mood, weight, balance, migraines, appetite, sleep, nausea, diahrrea, memory and I'm now trying to get taken off of it and OMG it is even worse! After I get off this which I pray is very soon I am not taking another medication at all! I have taught myself a lot of self coping things after the Xanax ordeal I'll gladly deal with my fibromyalgia than to take a medicine that helps with one thing but causes a hundred more things wrong. Everyone needs to research all these meds! Just because a Dr tells you to take it doesn't mean it's ok!
Hi Moun04. I agree 100% with you about Lyrica! Cymbalta was also horrible for me. Maybe because I took it for more years than I did Lyrica. I really don’t know how either medication was approved by the FDA. Thankfully I’m completely off Lyrica. I’m tapering slowly off Cymbalta now and I’m down from 60 mg to 1.9 mg and I can’t wait to be done with that too. How are you doing today? Are you tapering off slowly? The ‘withdrawals’ can be horrible! I really hope you are doing well. Take care. Cindy
Hi Deanster. Whatever you do please research Cymbalta if you are considering taking it. Just look for the question on here where JenJen asked ‘How long will I be going through Cymbalta withdrawals?’ As of right now there are 200 comments from people sharing their experiences with taking Cymbalta; including mine. In my opinion this drug is poison and should have been taken off the market years ago. You can search online about Eli Lilly court cases. It will shock you when you do all the research and hopefully help you decide to never take this drug. I sure wish I would have known before I took it and lost 10 years of my life so far.
I think that Cymbalta is a great alternative to Lyrica.
It would depend on what you take it for. I suffer from back pain and my old GP used to give me gabapentin and then lyrica as a nerve blocker. there are many other drugs in the same drug class. It's best to consult your prescriber to find out which is best for you.
My sister in law has MS and she takes Savella. Her insurance also stopped paying for lyrica. She said she used to take gabapentin but it didn't help at all. One thing about Savella is if you have heart problems talk to you cardiologist about taking if first. I hope you find a medicine that works you. I've seen what my sister in law goes through having MS it's serious pain along with other problems.
