Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I had a urinary tract infection, which unfortunately went up to my kidneys, so my MD prescribed Cipro. I already felt better after 2 days of taking it, however, I was getting terrible headaches that do not go away even if I take over-the-counter meds. That's the least of my worries, though, as long as my infection got treated."

For Sinusitis "It was the 6th day of my sinusitis, which I have confirmed to no longer be of viral origin due to the green phlegm I expectorate. I started taking Ciprofloxacin and waited for an hour or two to perceive its onset of action. Within that time span, the fever subsided, and the solidified mucus in all my sinuses started to loosen. The violent coughing persisted, so I took Butamirate citrate (Brospamin), a central-acting medulla oblongata cough center targeting medication. My continued use of Ciprofloxacin has significantly improved my general well-being, but one must definitely finish the 2x a day 500 mg dosage of Ciprofloxacin tablets for 10 days to avoid bacterial resistance. If the recommended dosage for 10 days is incomplete, mutations in fluoroquinolone target enzymes topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase may occur. While taking Ciprofloxacin, I have avoided eating foods with multivalent cations, particularly Calcium (Ca2+), as in milk and orange juice."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Oh man, thank God for this drug! I literally just realized I have a UTI, and I'm out of the country, but I have ciprofloxacin with me. I can tell I only just developed the UTI since symptoms weren't unbearable yet. Within the last 30 minutes since taking the pill, I already have some relief. I'm concerned about the possible side effects after reading these reviews, but honestly, I feel like anything is better than a UTI."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Prostatitis "I used Bactrim for a month for my prostatitis, but I didn't feel any better. I went to another Dr and prescribed me Cipro. It's been 5 days since I started using this medication, and it seems to be working. As a side effect, it gave me diarrhea, but I just ignore it. I feel much better than before."

For Urinary Tract Infection "hey guys, honestly, this antibiotic isn't bad at all. I understand that some people react to drugs differently but if you ignored your symptoms long enough for your tendons to randomly tear you're just dumb. Talk to your doctor if things don't feel right. I came on here when I was prescribed Cipro and was TERRIFIED of the reviews. I have had no symptoms taking this for a week and i took it with lots of food and water and stayed hydrated. This antibiotic got rid of my UTI and Sinus infection in a day. If you aren't healthy, are taking other medications, smoke, have preexisting conditions, or cant handle feeling slightly nauseous from medicine then yeah don't take it. Otherwise it did wonders for me."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "It was effective for my bladder infection, but the side effects are not good. After 3 days of medication, I developed severe pain in my Achilles tendon and both ankles. It continues to this day, 2 months later. I've also developed severe pain (tendonitis?) in my elbows. I never had this pain before taking Cipro."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I have a bad UTI and was doubled over in severe pain. After the first pill of Cipro (500 mg), the pain has lessened dramatically. I'm shocked it worked so quickly! However, all antibiotics make me nauseous and fatigued, but I'll take that over severe pain."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I’ve suffered from recurring UTIs all my life. I can’t take cephalosporins because of allergies or Macrobid because it caused gastric bleeding (talk about making things worse...). Cipro has worked like a charm for me every time, with no side effects. For some reason, doctors always say Cipro isn’t their first choice for UTIs, but since I’m allergic to the usual go-tos, this works for me. I’ve had some doctors provide a 3-day course, others 7-day. I would ask about dosage. Seems to me there are some doctors who overmedicate, particularly urgent care. My doc always prescribes 3 days. Urgent care has always given 7. Worth asking, is all I’m saying. As someone who got allergic to some antibiotics by taking them too much (for UTIs), I’m always nervous about taking extra antibiotics than needed, but be careful to get a doctor's opinion - don’t stop early or you can end up with bigger problems (like a recurring infection that’s now immune to that antibiotic)."

For Bladder Infection "Best med ever for bladder infections. I thought I'd never leave the house, but after the first dose, I felt better in 4 hours. After the 2nd dose, I feel almost back to normal. I've taken this med a lot in my life with no side effects. Take it with food and plenty of water if you can."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I was put on a dose of 1000 mg a day. Took care of the urinary tract infection like a charm, but the side effects were not pleasant. I had heartburn and nausea after every dose, and antacids can't be taken for 2 hrs. after. I also had headaches and kept smelling burning plastic."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I had kidney pain. Back back. Pain that went down to my leg, and I couldn't sleep. Thought it was from maybe overdrinking, so I drank a lot of water, but 7 days later, after eating only vegetables and fruits and taking cranberry juice and antioxidants, I went to the doctor. After my first pill, the pressure was gone, and after the second pill (500 mg), the pain was gone. It works!! No side effects other than slight nausea, but that's nothing compared to one week of pain and sleepless nights."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Bladder Infection "I had to stop taking the medicine due to getting yellowing of the skin, fevers, nightmares, severe headaches, dizziness, hot flashes, restlessness, nausea, etc. The medicine was fine until about three days into it, then I began to feel worse, and it was even hard for me to breathe. I may be one of the select few who reacted this way, and I followed everything that I was told to do exactly."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I was put on Cipro to treat a urinary tract infection. I was already on a medication that suppressed my immune system, and even though the Cipro did wonders for my UTI, the side effects were unbearable. I was directed to take 1 250 mg tab twice daily for 3 days. I was only able to get through the first 2 days. The side effects ranged from what was a mild headache the first day to a severe headache the second day, accompanied by muscle pain, joint aches, shortness of breath, and even chest palpitations on the right side. I went in to see my doc, and he said to come off them because even though they worked well for my UTI, my body was clearly unable to tolerate the side effects. Overall, I say the medicine is very effective but is also strong, so beware of side effects."

For Bladder Infection "I was prescribed Cipro after having a severe bladder infection. Within 3-4 hours, I started feeling relief, by 12 hours, I was almost completely better. Be sure to take all of the medication, or it may come back worse. Overall, Cipro worked like a charm and gave me almost instant relief."

For Bladder Infection "250 mg for 3 days. Worked great! Left me very tired, lightly nauseous, and a little heartburn (and perhaps developing a little yeast infection), but nothing I can't handle. I got a great night of sleep, but my days were bad. I did get freaked out by some of the reviews I read, but I had to remember that hundreds, if not thousands, of people take this medicine, and only the ones with bad reactions will post anything (only a fraction of the people prescribed it). It works differently with everyone, so do not let these reviews make your mind up. Take it one pill at a time and see how it affects you. Tip: take the pill with a lot of water and food in your belly. This helped me. Good luck!"

For Diverticulitis "I was on metronidazole (Flagyl) & ciprofloxacin for diverticulitis. Let me start off by saying these two medications together suck, however, they do work. I have never had any problems with medications...ever. (In 40 years) This time though, at times, I thought I was dying! Best described as the worst flu ever. Massive nausea, occasional vomiting, diarrhea, exhaustion, horrible taste in my mouth, nothing tasted good, and my appetite was bad. Day 4 was the peak of feeling awful. I went to every review site trying to gather what worked to curb the symptoms. Everyone is different, so what worked for others didn't necessarily work for me. Here is what did work for me a bit, in case it can help anyone else. 1.) Try to not take them together. Split up the doses by like an hour or so. 2.) Take each dose with a little food (even if you aren't hungry), something bland. Do not use dairy products, this made my nausea worse! 3.) Have mints or candy at all times. Your mouth will feel gross, and things will taste funny. However, I found spearmints also helped soothe the tummy a bit. 4.) Pepto-Bismol. 5.) Try not to take them immediately before bed at night. Give it about an hour or two. I noticed nausea will wake me up throughout the night if I take them too close to going to sleep. Good luck, and remember: your doctor prescribed these for a reason. A reason that could turn into life-threatening unless you get it controlled. The worst thing ever is to start taking an antibiotic and then stopping it mid-cycle, as your body then becomes immune to it and is essentially ineffective."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I was lucky enough to get most of the side effects from this drug. For the first two weeks, I lost my ability to walk. My entire body went numb (including my face), I had crippling anxiety, insane nightmares, and all of my major tendons were damaged. I had so much fatigue that I slept 18 hours a day. Thankfully, I was only sick for four months, but I lost my job and had to move back in with my parents. Now, I am okay. 0/10 would recommend. Even if you don't get a reaction the first time you take it, it is NOT WORTH TAKING. My friend's Achilles heels ruptured after her fifteenth round having no problems before that. Take another antibiotic or eat some garlic. I had $3,000 in medical bills."

For Bladder Infection "I've been prescribed Cipro several times and have never had a problem with the drastic side effects others have posted here. I usually have 60% relief within 6 hours of taking the first pill. By day two, the burning is pretty much gone. The frequency and bloating slowly resolve during the rest of the treatment days. I use AZO to help with pain at the onset, but usually only need to take 1 dose before the Cipro kicks in."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I took Cipro a year ago for a urinary tract infection and had very little side effects. I just started taking Cipro again two days ago for another UTI, and this time it is making me miserable. I no longer have the symptoms of a UTI, but my muscles hurt, I feel tired, and I have had some diarrhea."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Unfortunately, I get UTIs more often than I should. I have taken a 10-day prescription of Cipro, 500 mg every 12 hours for a bad UTI, and I couldn't get past 5 days of it. I was just prescribed Cipro, one 500 mg pill (because my doctor believed that this medication's side effects were too common and powerful). Within 24 hours, my UTI symptoms cleared up, BUT in the past two nights, I have barely slept. I have bad stomach cramping and diarrhea and headaches. Not fun to say the least. It will do a good job knocking out the infection, but the side effects are just crappy. I also learned that with this medication, sometimes less is more."

For Sinusitis "Of all the available antibiotics, this one has the fewest side effects for me, and unless I have a MRSA infection in my sinus, the one that works the best. Allergic reactions can happen with any medicine, so make sure you know those signs. Itchy skin (hyper itchy), welts, shortness of breath, blue fingernails, etc."

For Bladder Infection "Felt relief within 3 hours of taking it! Three days into it, I still feel the urgency to 'go', but the pain and all other symptoms are gone. I too have headaches, but they are minimal. Medication insert said you can take vitamins/iron after a minimum of 2 hours of taking Cipro, and I can live without milk for 10 days. Hang in there, I freaked out after reading the 'warnings', but so far, so good."

For Urinary Tract Infection "My symptoms started with blood in urine. My doctor prescribed Bactrim for 7 days. After 7 days, the blood was still not clear, and I started to have other symptoms like an urge to urinate, more frequent urination, and some minor pain in the penis - typical symptoms of a UTI. The doctor changed it to Cipro for 10 days. Still not better. The doctor changed it again to Macrobid for another 10 days. After 6 days, I still do not feel better, and then all of a sudden, I peed out a pretty good-sized stone (3-4 mm). I felt much better after that. So, all along, it was not UTI but I had a kidney stone. It took 35 days since I had the first symptom to the day the stone passed through and got out. The conclusion was that antibiotics will almost always fix a simple UTI fairly quickly (within 3-7 days for men, at least most symptoms would go away). If you still do not feel better after 3 days, it is likely that there is another underlying condition and not just UTI. It is better to check with the Urologist to find out more."
