Sodium Iodide Solution 20% Caution

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Composition

Each 100 mL of sterile aqueous solution contains:

Sodium Iodide Solution 20% Indications

For use as an aid in the treatment of Actinomycosis (lumpy jaw) and Actinobacillosis (wooden tongue) in cattle.

Contraindications

Do not give to animals in advanced pregnancy as it may result in abortion.

Warning

Not for use in lactating dairy animals.

Sodium Iodide Solution 20% Caution

Animals vary in their susceptibility to iodides. Administer with caution until the animal’s tolerance is determined. Discontinue treatment if signs of iodism or adverse reactions occur.

Dosage and Administration

Administer by slow intravenous injection, taking care to avoid perivascular deposition. The usual dose is 30 mg per pound of body weight (15 mL/100 lb.). May be repeated at weekly intervals if necessary.

Store between 15° and 30°C (59° - 86°F).
