Intra Hoof-fit Gel Indications

For the topical treatment of digital dermatitis (also known as Hairy Heel Wart or Mortellaro’s disease) in dairy cows.

Directions For Use

Completely cover the lesion with the gel during the following steps:

● Day 0: Apply the gel and cover with bandage.

● Day 3: Remove the bandage and apply the gel again, without bandage.

● Day 7: In case of insufficient recovery, again apply the gel without bandage.

Store at or below 25 °C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use within 1 month after opening.

Active Ingredients

Copper 40 mg/g (as copper diammonium EDTA), zinc 40 mg/g (as zinc diammonium EDTA).

Inactive Ingredients

Carmellose sodium, glycerol, isopropyl alcohol, water, sodium starch glycolate, tartrazine.

Warnings

No withdrawal period for meat or withholding time for milk is required when the drug is used according to the label. The product may cause irritation. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash hands after handling. If accidentally swallowed, contact a physician. Keep out of reach of children.

Clinical pharmacology

Pharmacodynamics

Copper has antimicrobial properties and a positive effect on wound healing. Zinc stimulates wound healing and has a mild antimicrobial effect against gram positive bacteria.

Pharmacokinetics:

Possible absorbed amounts of copper after treatment are bound by weak bonds to albumin in blood plasma and stored in the liver. Excess of copper is excreted via bile, a small percentage via urine and partly via milk. Possible absorbed amounts of zinc are mainly excreted via bile (80%), partly via urine and partly via milk.

Safety and efficacy

The clinical efficacy of this product against digital dermatitis (also known as Hairy Heel Wart or Mortellaro’s disease) in dairy cows has been demonstrated in 2 successful clinical trial studies. When following treatment according to the label, a cure rate of 92% was demonstrated in a European field study on 205 treated lesions. This clinical efficacy was confirmed in a Canadian field study, in which a cure rate of 100% was found on 50 treated lesions. No adverse effects were found as result of the treatment, demonstrating the safety of the product.

Discard the expired product in accordance with local requirements.
