Clostridium Botulinum Type B Toxoid

Purified botulinum type B toxoid aluminum phosphate adsorbed. Preservative: 0.01% Thimerosal. Contains no more than 1.85 g/L of formaldehyde as inactivating solution.

This product has been shown to be effective for vaccination of healthy horses and to provide passive immunity in offspring against Clostridium botulinum Type B. The duration of immunity is unknown. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data, see productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

This product was licensed prior to the requirement to establish a minimum age for use.

DOSAGE: Inject 2.0 mL intramuscularly at monthly intervals for a total of 3 doses. Historically, annual revaccination has been recommended for this product. The need for this booster has not been established. Contact your veterinarian or manufacturer for more information on revaccination frequency.

Pregnant mares are immunized to provide passive immunity antibodies in the colostrum, in order to protect the young foal. Two, 2.0 mL doses are administered intramuscularly 4 weeks apart early in the third trimester. An additional 2.0 mL dose is given 2-4 weeks prior to parturition. An annual 2.0 mL booster dose may be administered 2-4 weeks before foaling. Contact your veterinarian or manufacturer for more information on revaccination frequency.

ADMINISTRATION: Inject intramuscularly using aseptic technique. Shake well before use.

CAUTIONS: In case of human exposure, contact a physician.

Do not mix with other products.

Transitory local reactions at the injection site such as heat and minor swelling may occur. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Epinephrine is antidotal. Store at 2°-8°C (35°-46°F). Do not freeze. Use entire contents when opened. Do not vaccinate food producing animals within 21 days of slaughter.
