What is zavegepant nasal?

Zavegepant nasal (for use in the nose) is used in adults to treat migraine headaches with or without aura.

Zavegepant nasal will not prevent migraines.

Zavegepant nasal may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

How should I use zavegepant nasal?

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Do not take zavegepant nasal by mouth. It is for use only in the nasal inhaler device provided with zavegepant nasal.

Zavegepant nasal is usually given as a single spray into only one of your nostrils. Do not test, prime, or press the device plunger before use.

Do not use this medicine in both nostrils.

To use the nasal spray:

Each nasal spray is for one use only (in one nostril). Throw the nasal spray away after one use or once the medicine has expired.

Store the unused nasal spray in the original package at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze.

Zavegepant nasal dosing information

Usual Adult Dose for Migraine:

For acute treatment of migraine: Nasal spray: 10 mg given as a single spray in one nostril, as needed
Maximum dose: 10 mg (one spray) in a 24-hour period

Comments:
-The safety of treating more than 8 migraines in a 30-day period is unknown.

Use: For the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Zavegepant nasal is used when needed and does not have a daily dose. Call your doctor if the medicine is not effective.

What should I avoid while using zavegepant nasal?

Do not use other medications for your nose unless your doctor tells you to.

What other drugs will affect zavegepant nasal?

Avoid using a nasal decongestant within 1 hour after you use zavegepant nasal.

Other drugs may affect zavegepant, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you use.
