What is luliconazole topical?

Luliconazole topical is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus.

Luliconazole topical (for the skin) is used to treat athlete's foot (tinea pedis) or jock itch (tinea cruris) in adults and children who are at least 12 years old.

luliconazole topical is also used to treat ringworm (tinea corporis) in adults and children at least 2 years old.

Luliconazole topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Luliconazole topical side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have severe burning, redness, swelling, or stinging after applying the medicine.

Common side effects may include mild skin irritation where the medicine was applied.

Before taking this medicine

You should not use luliconazole topical if you are allergic to it.

It is not known whether luliconazole topical will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

It may not be safe to breast-feed a baby while you are using this medicine. Ask your doctor about any risks.

Luliconazole topical is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old.

How should I use luliconazole topical?

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Do not take by mouth. Topical medicine is for use only on the skin.

To treat athlete's foot: Apply the medicine to the affected areas and nearby skin once per day for 2 weeks.

To treat jock itch or ringworm: Apply the medicine to the affected areas and nearby skin once per day for 1 week.

Apply only a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area. Spread the medicine onto the nearby skin about 1 inch on all sides of the affected areas.

Wash your hands after applying this medicine.

Do not share this medication with another person, even if they have the same symptoms you have.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Luliconazole topical dosing information

Usual Adult Dose for Tinea Pedis:

Apply a thin layer to the affected area and about 1 inch of the immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for 2 weeks

Use: For the topical treatment of interdigital tinea pedis due to Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum

Usual Adult Dose for Tinea Corporis:

Apply to the affected area and about 1 inch of the immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for 1 week

Uses: For the topical treatment of tinea cruris and tinea corporis due to T rubrum and E floccosum

Usual Adult Dose for Tinea Cruris:

Apply to the affected area and about 1 inch of the immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for 1 week

Uses: For the topical treatment of tinea cruris and tinea corporis due to T rubrum and E floccosum

Usual Pediatric Dose for Tinea Pedis:

12 to less than 18 years: Apply a thin layer to the affected area and about 1 inch of the immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for 2 weeks

Use: For the topical treatment of interdigital tinea pedis due to T rubrum and E floccosum

Usual Pediatric Dose for Tinea Cruris:

12 to less than 18 years: Apply to the affected area and about 1 inch of the immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for 1 week

Usual Pediatric Dose for Tinea Corporis:

2 to less than 18 years: Apply to the affected area and about 1 inch of the immediate surrounding area(s) once a day for 1 week

What happens if I miss a dose?

Use the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use two doses at one time.

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

What should I avoid while using luliconazole topical?

Avoid getting luliconazole topical in your eyes, mouth, or vagina.

What other drugs will affect luliconazole topical?

Medicine used on the skin is not likely to be affected by other drugs you use. But many drugs can interact with each other. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
