What is Xepi (ozenoxacin) used to treat?

Xepi (ozenoxacin) Cream 1% is used to treat impetigo, a highly contagious bacterial skin infection often seen in infants and children.
It is approved as a treatment option for impetigo due to Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes in patients two months of age and older.
What is the Xepi dose?
Xepi is a topical non-fluorinated quinolone applied topically twice daily for 5 days. In clinical trials, Xepi showed excellent antibacterial activity against S. aureus and S. pyogenes, including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). Bacterial eradication was achieved in 90.8% of patients using Xepi versus 69.8% using placebo at the end of treatment.
