Emflaza (deflazacort), from Marathon Pharmaceuticals, is a glucocorticoid (a class of corticosteroid drugs) for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in patients age 5 years of age and older. Corticosteroids are commonly used to treat DMD in other countries, but Emflaza is the first FDA approval of any corticosteroid to treat DMD in the United States.
