Food may affect the absorption of semaglutide when taken orally. It is recommended that oral semaglutide be taken 30 minutes before first food, beverage, or other oral medications of the day with no more than 4 ounces of plain water. You may experience more side effects including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea if you fast longer than 30 minutes after the semaglutide dose. Methyclothiazide and ethanol (alcohol) may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome.
