If you use hydroflumethiazide for the treatment of high blood pressure, talk to your doctor before using it together with ketoprofen. Combining these medications may reduce the effects of hydroflumethiazide in lowering your blood pressure, especially if you use ketoprofen frequently or regularly (for example, to treat arthritis or chronic pain). You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring of your blood pressure and kidney function to safely use both medications. You should avoid being dehydrated while using these medications to minimize risk of kidney problems. Ask your doctor before using ketoprofen together with ethanol (alcohol). Do not drink alcohol while taking ketoprofen. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by ketoprofen. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. Hydroflumethiazide and ethanol (alcohol) may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position.
