Drug Interaction Report
3 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Gleevec (imatinib)
- mavorixafor
Interactions between your drugs
imatinib mavorixafor
Applies to: Gleevec (imatinib), mavorixafor
Imatinib may increase the blood levels of mavorixafor. This may increase your risk of experiencing a change in the electrical activity of your heart called QT prolongation, which can result in irregular heartbeats that can be life-threatening. You might be more susceptible to this risk if you have heart problems, congenital long QT syndrome, conduction abnormalities, or electrolyte disturbances (for example, magnesium or potassium loss due to severe or prolonged diarrhea or vomiting). Your healthcare provider may be able to manage this risk with a dose adjustment or additional monitoring. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience an irregular heartbeat or feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint during treatment. Speak with your doctor or healthcare provider if you have any questions. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
mavorixafor food
Applies to: mavorixafor
Mavorixafor should be taken on an empty stomach after an overnight fast, 30 minutes before food. Do not consume grapefruit products during treatment with mavorixafor unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels and adverse effects of mavorixafor, increasing the risk of experiencing a change in the electrical activity of your heart called QT prolongation, which can result in irregular heartbeats that can be life-threatening. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience an irregular heartbeat or feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint during treatment. Speak with your doctor or healthcare provider if you have any questions. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
imatinib food
Applies to: Gleevec (imatinib)
Grapefruit juice may increase the blood levels of certain medications such as imatinib. You should avoid consumption of grapefruit and grapefruit juice during treatment with imatinib. However, if you have been regularly consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice with the medication, then it is advisable for you to talk with your doctor before changing the amounts of these products in your diet, as this may alter the effects of your medication. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or you experience increased side effects. Orange juice is not expected to interact.
