The following interaction applies only if you are receiving baclofen (brand name Lioresal or Gablofen) intrathecally, where the medication is injected directly into the fluid-filled space under the arachnoid membrane that covers the brain and spinal cord.
If you are currently receiving treatment with baclofen by intrathecal injection, you should talk to your doctor before undergoing surgery where halothane may be used for anesthesia. Combining these medications may increase the risk of seizures and cardiovascular complications during surgery. In addition, the duration of anesthesia may be prolonged. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of baclofen such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with baclofen. Do not use more than the recommended dose of baclofen, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
