Injectafer Disease Interactions

Transient elevation of blood pressure has been reported in clinical trials in patients receiving ferric carboxymaltose. These elevations generally occurred immediately after dosing and resolved in 30 minutes. Patients should be monitored for symptoms or signs of hypertension following treatment.

Patients with malabsorption of fat-soluble vitamins or phosphate, or using medications affection proximal renal tubular function, hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, or malnutrition may experience symptomatic hypophosphatemia. Cases occur mostly after repeat exposure. Most cases resolved within 3 months. Monitor serum phosphate in at risk patiens requiring repeat treatment.

Serious hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis- type reactions, some of which have been life-threatening have been reported in patients using some injection iron products. Patients may present with shock, clinically significant hypotension, loss of consciousness, and/or collapse. These products should be administered cautiously, especially in patients with a history of significant allergies. Patients should be monitored during and at least 30 minutes after the administration. Epinephrine should be immediately available in the event of acute hypersensitivity reactions.
