Tamsulosin for Urinary Tract Stones "I had the worst pain of my life and thought I was dying. I went to the ER and they found a 4mm stone on my left side. They prescribed Flomax and pain meds. I will say the stone was barely in my ureter when this ordeal all started. The Flomax is recommended for bedtime dosing because of the possible side effects of drowsiness, dizziness, oh, and I get a stuffy nose. The original stone passed in 3 days and I had no idea because there was no pain. I also had a second stone on the other side form and it passed on its own with no pain. I like Flomax, for me, the benefits outweigh the side effects!"

For Urinary Tract Stones "I was put on tamsulosin after being diagnosed with kidney stones. It worked with getting rid of the kidney stones but left me with horrible side effects after stopping the pill, such as dizziness, muscle weakness, weakness, lightheadedness, chest pain, chest tightness, puffy red irritated eyes, side pain, lower back pain, insomnia, vertigo, abnormal heart rhythm, heart palpitations, sensation of spinning, fast pounding heart, difficult breathing, faintness, muscle and joint pain. I am a 21-year-old female. Yeah, trust me, I can barely walk right now out of fear of fainting. Use this medication with extreme caution!"

Tamsulosin for Urinary Tract Stones "I was on this for 3 days. I am not sure if it helped the stone or not, but I felt completely out of it. I drove the first day to an appointment and was terrified, I felt worse than drinking a ton of alcohol. Luckily, I made it, but then I caught myself staggering around and not being able to focus or even form complete sentences at times. After two days, I stopped taking it. I have never felt this out of it on anything else. I am curious to know what actually occurred in my body to create all those side effects. I have a little pain from my kidney stone, but I have a clear head again. I had to skip work 2 days, it was bad, driving and decision-making was chaotic!"

Tamsulosin for Urinary Tract Stones "Have one 4 mm stone hung up between the kidney and bladder and another 5 mm stone in the kidney. Have been on Flomax for a month, and while it has helped me to urinate more, the stone seems stuck. I am not happy with the side effects: stuffy nose, feeling dizzy, and just off, also seems to cause some water retention. Would love to have the positive results other users have had, but so far, no luck passing the stone."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Dizziness, blurred vision, sore head, itchy rash, but it did help the flow rate of passing urine. But it did not stop the frequent trips to the toilet at night, 5 to 6 times. No full night's sleep. Seeing a professor to change the drug if possible."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Really started a strong stream with no dribbling after a week. Get dizzy, tired most of the day, no erection without Cialis, retrograde ejaculation (climax feeling is good), and have had draining sinuses for the year I have taken Flomax. Time to see if there is something else or have a TURP."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am 62, and I started on tamsulosin 4 days ago. I was very reluctant as I had been getting by without drugs for a few years. Then I had two urine infections in June/July and ended up catheterized for 10 days. It took two courses of antibiotics to clear it up, and the consultant and urology nurses were surprised I was not already on tamsulosin. So, 4 days in... I am taking 400 micrograms after breakfast. I have not had any dizziness, but my pulse is elevated (not uncomfortably) when I am active, which I hope will settle down. Slight stuffy nose and headache in the morning, which has lessened each day. Notable improvement in ease of having to pee, which is the whole point - my bladder is not having to work so hard to empty. Fewer nighttime visits. So, so far so good;"

Tamsulosin for Urinary Tract Stones "Woke with horrific flank pain and went to the ER. Cat scan revealed two stones. One at the top of the ureter and the other still inside the kidney. The pain was excruciating. Morphine did nothing. Was given Flomax and a shot of Dilaudid. Pain stopped immediately from the Dilaudid. Sent home with pain meds and more Flomax to take once a day. Stone passed sometime between the time I left the hospital and when the Dilaudid wore off. Took around 6 hours total to pass. Will always keep this drug on hand! It does cause dizziness, but it's so worth the side effect. Amazing!!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "It works well to control frequent urination, but I'd rather keep changing my underwear than put up with the side effects - chemical castration, blurry vision, dizziness, imbalance. Now into the second month with the hope that symptoms would abate. Instead, they continue to get worse. Absolutely NOT worth taking."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Terrible drug. Took Tamsulosin CR for 7 days for possible kidney stones. The side effects are beyond belief. Severe dizziness, muscle weakness, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, insomnia, fatigue, and horrific back pain. Not exaggerating! 30 days off, and the effects still persist. Dizziness has improved a little, but back pain, muscle weakness, and stomach upset remain. There are documented cataract surgery complications if you have taken this pill. Can be serious changes to your iris (Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome). I have no idea how long until the effects wear off. Do your research."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Diagnosed with a 2x3 mm stone in the ER on a Friday night. Given antibiotics, pain medicine, and Flomax. Passed stone within 48 hours! Amazing, as I am a skeptical female RN. Side effects-only mild dizziness with the first dose. Do I attribute the ease of passage to this medication? Certainly."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I can honestly state that there is no medication that I have taken with as many negative side effects as generic Flomax. Severe dizziness, nasal congestion, my head felt like it was going to explode, the back of my eyes throbbed, similar to when you have a strong head cold, and I also had fatigue. These are just a few of the overwhelming side effects that this drug presented to me. These may occur especially when you stop and start the generic Flomax. I will never take this medication ever again in my entire life."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Been on tamsulosin for years; was in denial for years. There are no mental or physical side effects from this stuff. While it does help as opposed to another urinary surgery, this time a TURP. I simply cannot take any more of these pills, and I get distressed, depressed, dizzy, and depending on what other meds you must take, they combine and make it worse. I take them twice a day, morning and night - in between dutasteride, wow, another gem. Whilst I have had 11 surgeries and am a cancer survivor, and though I get benefit from this cocktail med list, I am exploring global urologists to find another. The bra surgery is non-invasive and no blood; I am seriously researching that. The meds work, don't get me wrong, but the anguish and mental price you pay daily takes a toll on you year after year."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I get up once or twice a night to pee and have a minorly reduced flow. I'm 50 and otherwise in good health. Recently, I was having symptoms of prostatitis and mentioned the peeing, and the doc put me on tamsulosin. I have a very active sex life, and this wasn't affected - in fact, my partner noted a 'wet patch,' which didn't happen before. I took tamsulosin for a week, and I might have had an increase in flow, but it was minor at best. Didn't notice a huge reduction in needing to pee. I took myself off it because I was having dizzy spells, like when your ears are blocked and one equalizes differently from the other. A week after stopping, I get occasional recurrence of this. I'm very wary of this drug."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on tamsulosin since my TURBT. I typically take it at night, so I have not noticed any dizziness or lightheadedness. It has definitely improved the flow of urination and bladder emptying and has not, in any way, gotten in the way of sexual activity. So, I am sold on this drug and will probably stay on it going forward."

For Urinary Frequency "24-year-old, male, UK. Normally, I would go every hour, even when drinking very small amounts of water or drinks. I took this medication for only two weeks. I noticed right away I would go less often to the toilet, and it was much easier to dispense the urine. Unfortunately, I had to stop taking this as the medication's side effects outweighed the benefits. I found that I would have incredibly intense mood swings, aggression, feel clumsy and dizzy all the time, blurry vision, memory problems or mind blanks, runny nose, weakness, tiredness. I am now trying Betmiga. Let's see."

For Urinary Frequency "I was prescribed this crap almost 18 months ago, and it has nearly killed me. Bad sleep to start with, tired all the time, dizzy, hard to breathe, and I couldn't do anything without gasping. I stopped this 3 days ago, and it's a friggin miracle. I feel great, I can breathe, can walk without gasping, and had a good sleep last night. Well, yes, it could be something else. ---I have been to a cardiologist, a gastroenterologist, and 3 more, and they didn't see the relationship. Crap, I even had an angiogram after 2 stents were done. Last angio said no need for a stent, and after that, I still felt terrible with symptoms above. I stopped tamsulosin and feel great. What a friggin joke, medicine."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Initially, the drug tamsulosin was a godsend for BPD. Relieved my symptoms immediately. But the side effects are numerous: lightheaded, dizzy, tired, and lethargic. Sometimes, I am nauseated in the mornings. Retrograde ejaculation occurs, but not often - it seems I can control that issue. Generally, I feel pretty miserable most days. I also have congestion in my sinuses that also affects my ears. So, I will discuss this with my urologist and try to arrange for a button TURP. I am on no other meds, don't have BP issues - I felt very healthy until this regimen began."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After taking tamsulosin for three years, it has proven quite effective with few side effects. Dizziness when standing goes away in two weeks or less, with only a residual low blood pressure when quickly standing from a seated position in the morning. An unlisted known side effect is an occasional skin rash on the feet, ankles, wrists, hands, and sometimes lower forearms when in prolonged hot, humid conditions."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I’m a 46-year-old male suffering from BPH. I was put on tamsulosin to help with urine flow. I have only experienced dizziness from it, which subsided within a few days. The retrograde ejaculation other guys are talking about, I was having that problem before tamsulosin, and fortunately, it corrected that issue for me! I had to temporarily stop tamsulosin for 3 weeks, and during that time, my retrograde ejaculation returned! Then, after I restarted tamsulosin after a few days, it corrected it again! So it’s not only helped my BPH, but also the retrograde ejaculation! I have noticed a lower semen volume, but that’s okay. I’m not trying to have any more children. So far, I’m very happy with the medication and the results from it!"

For Urinary Tract Stones "I took the drug for two days and ended up with heart palpitations, racing heart, dizziness, and passing out for 8-9 days after stopping the medication. I was not able to drive for 5-6 days after stopping the medication due to the dizziness and being on the verge of passing out. After that time, I was able to drive to work but had to pull over to the side of the road when I felt my head spinning. I went to the emergency room on day two and was put on a heart monitor. Even lying down resting, my heart was pounding through my chest; nothing could calm it down except for time. Time for my body to purge the poison."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I was diagnosed with kidney stones, not told the size of them, but tamsulosin helped me pass the stones in like less than a week or so, and drinking lots of water and apple cider vinegar/lemon juice helped too. There were a lot of nasty side effects such as heart palpitations that don't stop, even while resting, muscle weakness, severe dizziness, weakness, memory problems, chest pains, flank pain, lower back pain. The list goes on. I am not taking anymore because of the side effects. I'm just happy it helped with the stones. I am also a 21-year-old female."

Ureteroscopy scheduled for next week. Horrible side effects (fatigue, dizzy, stuffy nose, headache/sinus pain, minor nosebleeds, minor breathlessness) but continue to use in hope it might move before surgery."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "My husband took this every night, 0.4 mg, for about the last two years. He had said different times how lightheaded he felt on this. He got up at 6:00 a.m. on a Tuesday and was making coffee, and I heard a huge thud. I went out in the kitchen, and he was passed out on the floor for about 6 or 7 minutes. With the help of his brother, we got him to a chair. He was very dizzy and wasn't making much sense when he talked. Took him to the hospital, and they did a host of tests, which all came back good. So the conclusion the doctors came to was the tamsulosin lowered his blood pressure. My husband's blood pressure was low to begin with, so this just contributed more to his losing consciousness. So he will never take this stuff again."
