Tacrolimus topical "I am a 27-year-old male who suffers from atopic dermatitis. I was prescribed Protopic by my dermatologist to use daily for 2 weeks. The rash on my forehead has worsened, and my face is still red, and my skin is flaky. This has not worked for me."

Tacrolimus topical "The first time I used this, I only put it around my nose and down to my lip. It burned so bad immediately. I cleaned it off after an hour as the heat and the burning were bad. Even after this, it burned all night, I had to have a fan blowing on me, but that didn't help much. My whole face (not just the area I put it on) burned for over 24 hours, even after washing multiple times. A month later, I tried it again after my skin had calmed a bit, and this time was much better. I didn't get the same burning, just a slight heat from it. Another side effect I've had is that when the room I'm in gets warmer, my whole face burns and gets very red, this lasts for hours. I've been using this for a month now, but I've seen very little improvement with my skin. It's still sore, tight, and burns and itches."

Tacrolimus topical "I started using this cream on my hands a couple of weeks ago, almost immediately, my hands started burning, but I put it down to the dermatitis. After a few days, there was improvement on my hands, so I carried on using it once a day. Last weekend, I drank wine, and my goodness, my face and neck started burning and went really red. I never correlated it to the cream, I just thought I'd developed an allergy to the wine. That evening, my whole body started tingling, it was quite scary. Still didn't think it could have been the cream, so I carried on using it once a day. The tingling carried on all week, it was driving me to despair. Yesterday, I read the patient leaflet, and to my horror, the common side effects are the ones I was suffering from. I do have sensitive skin, so maybe that's why I reacted so badly. I didn't use the cream last night, still tingling skin today, but not as bad. Hopefully, it will be out of my system soon. My advice is don't use this cream if you have sensitive skin."

Tacrolimus topical "Patches, newer outbreak of atopic dermatitis not going away with desonide cream. Nasty breakout on right bicep and contact with that side of my body. You can feel and see heavy blotchy lines. Tried Protopic ointment this evening for the first time (Day 1), and yes, I experienced the initial painful itching and burning experienced by so many. I put ice in a baggie directly on the affected areas and instant relief, although it probably dilutes the Protopic strength. I keep on icing as needed. I will do as so many of you recommend and hang in with it for a spell. I'm thinking twice a day until cleared. Thanks so much. I will report back on progress soon."

Tacrolimus topical "Developed eczema on my eyelids and hairline around my face. Itchy, red, and burning for a few months, flare-ups were painful. Dr. prescribed cortisone, but it was only temporary help. I did not apply lots. Then dermatologist prescribed Protopic. Yes, it burned for the first 72 hrs, but it subsided, and I was completely healed within a week! Such a relief. I only apply when I feel like a flare-up is starting. Great for preventing."

Tacrolimus topical "This product. -_- I've had eczema for as long as I can remember, and now it's started to spread to new areas. The dermatologist prescribed this to use around the face and neck as it's not a steroid. I was aware that it initially burns the first few times...almost to the point of rather dealing with eczema over the burning. I've used it a handful of times now, as and when. It does soften the thick buildup. However, after applying, the skin is very sensitive to itching. Well...last night I itched my neck 2 hours after applying this...DO NOT DO THIS. I never knew 'burning' had levels 10 times worse than experienced. Had to scrub the area and apply a wet flannel for a good hour to calm it down. It may work, just not for the faint-hearted."

"Definitely helps reduce some of the flaking skin around my eyes, but when I used it, it made my eyes feel very hot, like I put my eyes next to a heater. Tried washing my face, and the hotness still didn’t go away. It’s been almost 24 hours now, and I can still feel it on my eyes. It’s not horrible by any means, but I will probably not use this again, unfortunately, I don’t want the hotness getting any worse."

Tacrolimus topical "It’s only been 5 days, but the itching and burning this stuff caused made me want to rip my skin off. So far, no miracle improvement that others have reported. If anything, the rash looks and feels worse."

"My doctor prescribed this ointment in conjunction with memetasone cream. I had a severe reaction with red, hot, weepy, itchy, thin-feeling skin that bled with the lightest scratch. Per doctor, I stopped using memetasone and just used tacrolimus, from there, skin dried up and became very scaly, still itchy, thin-feeling, and painful. The ointment also made my skin feel very dry."

"I can't say this ointment failed to clear up the rash around my eyes. Unfortunately, the side effect is worse, because the rash began appearing all over my face. When I use a simple cortisone cream, the rash just disappears. I have tried more than once with tacrolimus, but it seems to spread the rash as it works. So no, I am not satisfied with this product. Has anyone else experienced this?"

"I have had eczema for a couple of months now, and nothing has made my confidence go down as much as eczema has. Being uncomfortable in your own skin and not being able to hide it, even when you wear makeup, sucks. HEAR ME OUT: I have used Eucrisa before this religiously. No, it did not seem to help the eczema go away, but it helped the redness go down. I was nervous to try Tacrolimus because of all the reviews, but I decided to give it a try so I could gain my confidence back. I started off by just putting a little bit on a small area of my eczema. I HIGHLY recommend doing that. It's only been 4 days since I have used it, and I am one of the few that has had little to no side effects, and about 50% of my eczema is gone. Please be aware that everyone's experience will be different. I also recommend putting a base layer of moisturizer on before applying the cream. For me, this cream has been a miracle, and I hope everyone finds something that works for them."

"I've had eczema for my entire life, but it started getting really bad around my eyes in the last year. It was super dry and flaky, and nothing seemed to work. I tried tacrolimus, and the first night I put it on, it burned and itched so bad. When I woke up the next morning, it was still mildly burning, but after two more uses, all symptoms stopped and my eczema began to clear. My face was clear within 5 uses, but I continue to use it every night. This ointment isn't any gooier than steroid creams I have been prescribed, and it actually works."

Tacrolimus topical "Burning sensation worsened over about 5 days of use. None the first time, then a bit after application, and now a severe delayed reaction (the next day, so I can't just wash it off), nearly constant, and worsened with water. Feels like exposure to jalapenos on sensitive skin, like near the eyes. Hasn't had any effect on my eczema yet either. Can't stick it out to see if it gets better."

"I have suffered like many others for years with rubbish skin. Had every steroid under the sun but wanted to try and stop the problem from happening in the first place. I was prescribed Protopic. Yes, at first it burns like hell, but that to me is it working, and I suffer it. As I continue to use it, this burning doesn't happen, and it has left me with lovely skin. I have found, however, that I did not apply on the Thursday and had some alcohol on the Friday, thinking the cream would be out of my system, but definitely not! My face became very flushed when I started drinking, but then calmed down. My eyelids and the area around the eye were completely swollen the following morning and have just got worse.... will need to monitor this."

Tacrolimus topical "Don't bother with Protopic. It works wonders, but you can only use it for 6 weeks. This is what I do, and it works. Overactive immune system, vitamin deficiency, triggers, stress, food allergies. Before food, 3 times a day: vitamin D spray (2000 IU) per spray, 6 sprays a day (12000 IU), lower when symptoms improve to (6000 IU) daily. CBD full spectrum spray, 6 sprays a day (800 mg). MCT oil as a base (normal function of immune system). Multivitamins. Dead Sea salt bath, shower off salt water after bath."

"I think I was suffering from topical steroid withdrawal and tried to get off of them once my skin was dry, red, and flaky. I thought I was out of options until I remembered the Protopic generic, tacrolimus. I asked my doctor about it, and she was able to prescribe it to me. So far, it's cleared up my skin, although I do have red skin on my thighs. I get itchy and keep causing more eczema or sores due to scratching, and I'm unaware of the allergens causing it. It does burn, and I'm odd, I think it feels good sometimes, especially in the winter. I recommend it for eczema sufferers because I've used it in the past, and it's worked, and as an adult now, it's working again for me. Topical steroids have failed me."

Tacrolimus topical "I had a rash caused by insect bites, so the doctor gave me Protopic. He said it would get rid of the rash. I had tried everything: calamine lotion, baking soda, tea tree gel with vitamin E, lavender, rosemary oil, and witch hazel. Well, nothing got rid of the rash, also, my skin cannot handle hydrocortisone cream, and I cannot take Benadryl. So I got the Protopic and antibiotics. Yes, it cleared it away brilliantly, however, the doctor told me to use it twice a day, incorrect dosage. Did not warn me of evil side effects. My skin became a mess as soon as I stopped using it, remembering the doctor saying to apply more if I had any problems. It would clear my skin, then get worse and worse: leathery skin, painful blisters, oozing nasty redness, bumpy skin - Red Skin Syndrome."

"I've been dealing with perioral dermatitis and eczema on my face since June 2018. My face blew up after topical steroids were applied for what I thought was eczema. Fast forward to now, January 21, 2019, my skin is literally clear. I tried EVERYTHING. I spent so much money. I did take a round of prednisone in August, and that helped a lot, but I was still getting these crazy flares. This ointment has been a life changer. It does burn and sometimes it’s for the first two applications...but trust me, it will get better. This is the first time in over six months that I have been rash and itch free. I also use Specto gel face soap."

Tacrolimus topical "Applied this to treat what looked like a mix of folliculitis and atopic dermatitis flares (but which turned out to be just atopic dermatitis) on both lower legs, especially the shins. Itchiness, redness, and dryness abated about 80% after one week without any initial irritations or burning sensation. There is no feeling of soreness or increased sensibility whatsoever, I've basically just stopped thinking about those problematic parts of my skin, so there's that passive psychological boost, too. Only 9/10 because long-term results are still unknown and because it's pretty greasy."

"I was prescribed Protopic for atopic dermatitis on my eyelids, which had been kicking around my eyelids for about 4 months, really irritating. The first application definitely was on the hot/burning side for about 12 hours, the second and third applications were not. The atopic dermatitis appears to be improving. Also, I do not know if it was coincidental, but I woke up at 4 AM with a heavy migraine and then got sick. That may have been from the meal I ate at 9 PM, some sort of food poisoning, because I had gas all day long and the food did all come up. Don't know, but I am fine 24 hours later."

"I developed contact dermatitis because of an allergy to cosmetics. The doctor prescribed tacrolimus 0.03% and some antihistamine tablets. I used tacrolimus for 1 week. Initially, when I applied it, it really stung, the area felt hot, red, and itchy. I couldn't sleep well. But I kept on using it. After 4 days, my skin was soft, clear, and it was moisturized. It was greasy as hell. But it also moisturizes your skin because it has a kind of thick Vaseline texture. Please start with a low concentration of 0.03 to minimize side effects."

Remedy is to allow the immunity to redevelop over months and then with nitrogen removal. A very unpleasant experience."

"A few days back, I had been to my dermatologist. They recommended tacrolimus ointment to apply on the affected spots on my face, and from where I remembered, it itched so bad. I didn't have any burning sensation, though, but the itching was too severe, and my face was getting light reddish, too. I thought that it had some kind of allergic reaction with my skin. However, only in 2 days, the white spots started vanishing, and the itchiness subsided after 5 days, in 1 week, I got clear, smooth skin. It really did work (though it needs a lot of patience about the greasiness and for the annoying itching, but it really does work)."

"Eczema has met its match. I was born with the stuff and used topical cortisone products my entire life with poor results. Finally, I tried Dupixent, and it cleared my skin up nicely but caused horrible conjunctivitis. It felt like it took all that eczema and shoved it into my eyes. I finally had to go off the Dupixent, and my dermatologist referred me to an allergist who prescribed tacrolimus. I got it just as my eyes were getting better and the rest of my body getting worse. I cannot believe how effective the tacrolimus ointment is. Yes, if you apply it to inflamed eczema, it will itch and sting, and I keep a supply of lidocaine cream for this, but it has cleared up very stubborn eczema very quickly, and where I have used it, no eczema has returned so far. I hope it keeps working. No, it is not a cure, but probably as close to a cure as you can get right now."
