For Bacterial Infection "I'm on this medication after developing a staph infection in my C-section incision. I began feeling dizzy on day one. I've had some itching on my stomach, but not too terribly. Yesterday (day 6 of 10) I developed a headache. I still have said headache. I feel blurry-visioned and dizzy all day. Extreme hunger too. Idk. My staph is healing, and the incision looks great now... But after suffering a severe spinal headache following my surgery... A headache is the last thing I want to experience. 3 more days... Ugh. Is it effective for infection? Yes. Is it pleasant to endure? Nope."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have never had such a horrible experience with an antibiotic. I only took it for three days, twice a day, and I was so nauseous I couldn’t eat anything, and I got so dizzy that I couldn’t even walk straight. I will never take this antibiotic again."

For Acne "The dermatologist put me on Bactrim DS, to be taken twice a day with food. No side effects in the first few days and did a good job at clearing up my face. Currently, I am on the 9th day and experiencing severe side effects. Fever, chills, extreme joint pain, muscle weakness, and overall sluggishness. Also experiencing difficulty breathing, a tight chest, headache, and dizziness to the point of almost falling over, for no reason. The most severe of the side effects is the joint pain. Can hardly take a step on my right leg and cannot lift anything with my right arm. Bactrim does its job, however, at the expense of your health. Please do your research before starting this drug!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I would not recommend this to anyone. I have had bleeding in my urine for over two weeks, and the doctors associated it with a UTI. After being given Macrobid, and symptoms persisting, they gave me Septa. I took it for two days, twice a day with food, was fine. On the third day, not so much. I began shaking uncontrollably, dry mouth, I was incoherent to the point I couldn't even understand what people were saying to me, my heart was racing, I was dizzy, and extremely nauseous. It literally felt like I had been roofied (drugged up). I don't even remember half the night, and I had horrible insomnia. I don't even understand how this is on the market. Would never ever take this again."

For Sinusitis "This is horrible medication! I was on Bactrim for only 3 days for sinusitis, then on day 4, I had hives and my face was burning from the inside out but no fever. Went off it. Then day 5, 6, and on 7 now, and my jaw aches and my face feels like it’s going to implode. Strangest feeling. I’m dizzy, have a headache, but the facial tightening and burning are making me crazy. This stuff is scary, and I have no idea when it’s going to stop. Never again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I had commented on here before about my use of Bactrim DS. It's been 2 weeks since my last dose, and I still have weakness and dizziness. I'll have to go to the doctor sometime soon. This is my first antibiotic ever. I'm scared to find out what's wrong, but my urine has cleared up..."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "Absolutely the worst medication I've ever been on, and I've been on a lot. If an alternative is offered, take the alternative. Intense thirst, super awful anxiety (borderline paranoia), stomachaches and heartburn out the wazoo, night sweats, rash, dizziness, joint pain, loss of appetite were my symptoms (amongst others). Doc switched me to clindamycin. Not a single side effect! Symptoms gradually got better after dropping Bactrim."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I developed a painful staph infection in my nose after a really nasty cold. Bactrim DS cleared it up quickly, but it was harsh on my body. The worst side effect that I had was extreme fatigue. Even walking around the house left me dizzy, out of breath, and shaking with exhaustion. Luckily, I had the sick days to take off work because I don't think I could have done it. I also had nausea and insomnia, but that was mostly just inconvenient. The exhaustion, though, was debilitating. I finished the entire 10-course because the staph infection was painful, and my nose was bright red and swollen. I was scared not to finish the meds. I would definitely ask for something else next time, though."

For Bacterial Infection "First two days on it, I felt fine. On the 3rd day taking this, I felt so sick to my stomach and unable to sleep. I wasn't sure what was making me so nauseated and dizzy at times, and I then realized it was the Bactrim. I am tossing this down the toilet!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I’d taken this drug for a UTI about a year ago and remember feeling nauseous and dizzy, but not bad enough to call the doctor. Got two doses into this round, and 10 minutes after taking the second, my hands and feet itched unbearably, my lips felt swollen, I was dizzy, my heart was racing, and I was getting chills and hot flashes. I ended up in the ER and was pumped full of steroids and Benadryl. 9 hours now since my symptoms started, and my heart is still racing. Full-blown sulfa allergy."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Prostate UTI asked not to be given Cipro as it can cause permanent tendon damage if you are doing repetitive movements. See CBC news article. They gave Bactrim. It's a poor substitute. Dizzy, tired, dry eyes, damn slow working. On day 4 of 7, not much better. Cipro is the one of choice for prostate in my experience to work well, but it has its side effects too."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This stuff is nightmare fuel. I’m on the third day, my UTI is still lingering, and I feel worse than I’ve felt in a long time. Constant headache, weak, shaky, anxious, dizzy, itchy??? And the diarrhea is just a fun little bonus. I would say if you’re highly sensitive to medications like I am, and you’re taking this stuff for a UTI, go and get a urine test to make sure Bactrim is the right stuff for you. Do not take this unless it’s your only option. I’m sure for those with sturdier constitutions this stuff is fine, but I’m not one of those people, and I feel horrible."
