For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been receiving infusions for a few years and am very pleased with my results. I have 2 infusions every four months, 15 days apart, reduced from originally every six months. The speed that it takes to get into my system required a shorter space of time between sessions. The only side effect I have is not sleeping the night after the infusion. I know it's working as I can feel when I am nearing the end of the medicine. It has slowed the effects like swelling in my hands and feet, my knees hurting, and shoulder pain."

For Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma "I had my first treatment two days ago for NHL, and other than flu-like symptoms once or twice a day, I feel good for at least 6 hours, and then I will take Motrin and feel good another 6 hours. I feel great in the morning and go downhill in the afternoon. What's odd is that my hip and leg pain on my left side is going away. I don't know if Rituxan can work that fast, but I feel better already. I have the infusion once a week, so we'll see how I continue to do. But so far, I'm only missing one day a week of work, and that's my infusion day. The next day is a little tough from feeling so tired, but then I feel back to my old self for a few hours."

For Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis "I’ve been receiving Rituxan infusions for granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) for almost four years. Induction started with one infusion per week for four weeks. Six months later, I was given two more infusions, two weeks apart. I was then switched to one maintenance infusion every six months. Labs showed that I was in remission after infusion #7. Currently, I receive one maintenance infusion every six months. I have had no side effects from Rituxan, and have not had a relapse of the GPA."

For Microscopic Polyangiitis "I started on rituximab two years ago due to vasculitis, which attacked my kidneys. I lost 50 percent of kidney function. I was already suffering from RA and was using Enbrel and methotrexate. Rituximab now treats both illnesses for me. I did, however, get pneumonia twice in the second year, but maybe that was due to the fact that I missed taking my antibiotics sometimes, so follow your doctor's instructions well. I am so thankful for this treatment, I am in great form, had no side effects, no pain, and my illnesses are stable. Scientific progress is great."

For Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma "I had my first infusion last Friday and was premedicated with Benadryl, Tylenol, Pepcid, and a steroid. It was started slowly, but after being bumped up the second time, I became short of breath and dizzy, feeling like I was going to pass out. It was stopped and I was given more Benadryl & Steroid through my IV, waited an hour, and started again but got a headache and body aches. It was stopped, and I was told to go back on Monday to try again. I was given the same starting meds plus the injection of steroid prior to starting, and I had no reactions and was able to finish the entire infusion. I am hopeful the next three over the next three weeks continue to go well. The nurses said most people they have seen have a reaction to the first infusion but then do well after that. I do feel like I have more energy already, but that could be from all of the steroids."

"My 14-year-old daughter was diagnosed with lupus nephritis IV three weeks ago. I didn't agree with the infusion of Rituxan and protested, but it was administered even though the prescribing procedure clearly states, 'DO NOT ADMINISTER TO PATIENTS WITH RENAL IMPAIRMENT.' I read that it was NOT approved to treat lupus in adults or children. The side effects have been extremely painful for her. I'm livid because her RA has no interest in even seeing her until the next infusion has been approved. Her nephrologist hasn't called either, but in my opinion, this isn't a typical OTC that you infuse and send a patient home without worrying about the effects."

For Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma "Really hurts doing injections in lower arm. After last one, I was really tired for about 2 weeks. Been taking injections every 2 months but changed something before last one. Maybe the manufacturer. Also, heart problem showed up and had to have a stent about 2 months later. Don't know if the drug had anything to do with that or not."

"I live with tinnitus. Rituxan took it to a whole new level. Symptoms began with noise similar to rushing wind and developed into wind with a badly played trumpet. No music, just blasting notes. This experience lasted about three hours. When it subsided, my tinnitus was practically gone. Though the tinnitus did return, the windy trumpet didn’t."

"I seemed to get along quite well with this. The only thing different is that it did not last the 6 months it was supposed to. They have now switched me to every 28 days. The only other thing I want to mention is that it is very expensive. I am working part-time to pay for all of this shizzet."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I had my first infusion of Rituxan yesterday. I had RA for 6 years and have never gotten rid of my pain after trying 7 other medications. Had some relief but not enough. My doctor premedicated me with Benadryl, Tylenol, and IV Solumedrol. I started to itch, then burn like anything with pain. It went down the back of my sinuses to my throat and down my esophagus very quickly. This sounds crazy, but she said it was a gastrointestinal side effect and gave me IV Pepcid. It worked. I felt better in 2 minutes and all the symptoms were gone in 20 minutes and never returned. I will need Pepcid during every IV. It is not considered a reaction, but a side effect. Hope this helps someone. I seen others with these symptoms and the doctor gave up on the med. I will add to this review in 6 months and let you know how it worked. Today I feel better with some less pain but not sure if it is the med or the IV steroids that are doing this. Take care and feel better, everyone."
