Pyrithione zinc topical "I lived with this condition for years before I found DermaZinc shampoo. I tried everything. NOTHING ever helped, except a large shot of some kind of cortisone at a dermatologist's office. That helped for a few weeks, 4 to 6 at most. DermaZinc worked well for me the first time, like a miracle. I use it once to twice a week and have no breakthrough. My only complaint is it is very drying, and you have to use a conditioner. My scalp is sensitive to most and will break out due to dyes or scent. When I first found it, there was also a conditioner, which is no longer available, ALa Scalp, I think. It was wonderful. Now I use as natural a conditioner as I can find, like Burt's Bees, and try not to get much on my scalp and rinse well. A bottle lasts 6 months."

"I had found no relief from doctors, severe flaking on my face, at one point literally had liquid running from my ears. Suggested steroid cream but warned not to use often. Hardcore antibiotics did not help. So, under the assumption of a fungal infection, for one weekend I experimented with diaper rash ointment on half of my face. It helped. I found a liquid drop for dandruff that contained pyrithione zinc. Worked great until I ran out. Then found out Head and Shoulders shampoo had it. Every time I shower, I do head and face with shampoo, sometimes even in my ears. I leave shampoo on until I'm done washing and rinsing the rest of my body, then rinse off my face and head. If I stop, after about 3 days it reappears. Only minor irritation when first applied after letting go for too long. This has kept it under control for 15+ years. Unfortunately, recently banned from shampoos in the EU. So, I am paying extra expense to import. Since in the same market as the EU. US prescribed expensive medicine performed no better."

"I tried using a shampoo containing pyrithione zinc for multiple years to try and treat my seborrheic dermatitis. Over that time, it did very little to reduce the excessive skin flaking that was taking place all over my scalp and face. I stopped using pyrithione zinc and decided to give ketoconazole shampoo a try instead, and what a difference it has been! Within a few weeks, my skin has stopped flaking almost entirely. Would definitely recommend using ketoconazole instead of pyrithione zinc."
