"I have taken this medicine before, and it made my Restless Legs Syndrome much worse. For over 25 years, I have taken Percocet. I may have to go back to that. I read somewhere that side effects can last for up to a year, I hope not."

"Was prescribed this drug for RLS. Suffering for over 30 years. Was trying to switch from Rivotril. I’m not sure what happened, but I watched a commercial with slot machines. Ended up gambling $80,000 and ruining my future, present, and past. Was never advised that Mirapex had a side effect listed as pathological gambling and that it could be an issue, and of course it was too late by the time I got the courage to tell my family. Been back on Rivotril since, suffering probably forever as the dosage isn’t high enough anymore and I don’t want to increase. I exercise, sometimes making it worse. I don’t wish RLS on anyone and be careful on Mirapex."

"I have severe RLS that is a problem during the day as well as nighttime. I take Mirapex 0.25 mg twice a day, which greatly increases my comfort levels and the ability to hold relatively still. Note: I am confined to a wheelchair, with idiopathic polyneuropathy, along with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (and numerous additional diagnoses), and currently take 29 other prescription medicines, so I am unable to comment on side effects. I have tried other drugs for RLS, including Lyrica, Klonopin, Neurontin, and clonidine. For me, Mirapex and Lyrica relieve RLS far better than the others."

"I've had RLS for years, and it kept getting worse, to the point I was only sleeping a few hours a night. I finally mentioned this to my doctor, and she prescribed this medication. From the first dose until now, I've had no symptoms of RLS. Sometimes I feel tired in the day, especially if I go to bed late. This is a very effective medication for me."

"I’ve been taking Mirapex for ten years, without side effects, and it has changed my life. I can sleep, take long car rides, both of which were impossible before discovering this medication. I’m so sorry for those who have experienced changes in thoughts and behaviors, but for me, I wouldn’t want to be without it."

"I'm 55 years old, and I've had RLS since I was probably around 8-10 years old. Pramipexole is a lifesaver to me. I've been taking it for 5 years. I don't take it every day, I take 0.5 mg only when I feel RLS coming on. I would rate my RLS as severe when it happens - normally in my legs, but sometimes in my elbows too. I have no side effects. I also take gabapentin for back and joint pain. I also take antacid, Prilosec and Tums daily for 25+ years. Both Prilosec and Pramipexole are essential to my daily life. No side effects."

"I've been on Mirapex for about 10 years now. I started with 0.25 but went to 0.5 a couple of years ago. I'm very happy with how it controls my RLS. However, I fall asleep quickly but wake up frequently during the night. Don't know if Mirapex has anything to do with that."

"I'm writing this to warn bipolar people who are taking pramipexole (Mirapex) for something. You need to be aware that it can induce mania even at small dosages. I took it nightly for my RLS for many years, and it worked really well until I finally figured out I was having small, sneaky manic episodes every time I took .5 mg or more. I switched to ropinirole and felt a HUGE difference the very next morning. I felt at peace inside, like I hadn't felt for many years. I'm telling you it was nothing short of amazing, and I still feel that way now, 2 months later. Looking back, I can see that the prami was giving me this 'dirty energy' inside all the time I was taking it, even the next day, which was messing with my stability in so many ways. Please be very careful if you're bipolar and taking pramipexole/Mirapex as well. There are alternatives out there to try."

"I had RLS in my late teens, for many years, I would move my legs while in bed, but it did not seem to affect my ability to fall asleep until years later. Then I heard about Requip treatment for RLS, and it seemed to address this condition that doctors failed to diagnose for many past years. I started out with the Requip starter kit, I don't recall what the maximum mg was. But I had gastro issues with this medication, and my doctor prescribed Pramipexole (Mirapex) 2 mg before retiring. The medication seems to be very effective in controlling RLS symptoms but does come with some unwanted side effects-not compulsive gambling as some claim, but other issues that could be a result of taking this medication. Daytime drowsiness is common, I can't imagine how those who have Parkinson's disease stay awake as this medication is prescribed at much higher dosages."

"I took Mirapex and Requip for about 4 years. I had to stop taking it because I was climbing the walls, horny, it was all I could think about and want to do. I felt like my whole body was tingling, and every touch just drove it further. I contacted my doctor, and he gave me some suggestions. For instance, I recently got put on Lomotil for IBS and colon polyps. The active ingredient Diphenoxylate is an opiate. Opiates will always relieve RLS in like one hour, but of course, all doctors think we are opiate addicts. I hate doctors. I get refills anytime I need them on Lomotil. I threw out my Requip and Mirapex. I only take Mirapex when I want to be super horny for my girlfriend. I’ve had no RLS in 4 years. It’s especially good if you have Klonopin to take too. I’m a nurse and work 56 hours a week and come home, and I’m asleep instantly. Because of the opiate epidemic, doctors won’t prescribe meds that help, only meds that will cause you problems."

"I have been on Mirapex for 25 years for restless leg syndrome. I immediately felt the difference after the first day. I got more sleep and stopped kicking. Both of my wives swore I did it on purpose as RLS was not commonly recognized. As years have gone by, my dosage has increased. I went from .0125 to now presently at 4.5. I got a new doctor who, after I left his office, changed my script from 4.5 to .75 without telling me. I have lived 3 weeks with excruciating torture. Even online it tells you not to reduce dosage after a long period of time. Trying to find a neurologist who will see me right away and the next appointment is February of 2026. I cannot believe any doctor would do this when it warns not to. I am supplementing the .75 dosage of his with 750 mg of a muscle relaxer. It gets me through the night, but the pain in the shins up to the knees is unbearable. I will find a doctor who will put me on the right dosage. I will swear by Mirapex on my life. If I travel and forget my meds, I am up for at least 36 hours."

"It works great. I have had RLS for 45 years. The side effects list it as a big appetite increase. That is so true. I could eat anything and do every night. But at least no RLS."

"I took Mirapex for a couple of months with my severe restless leg syndrome. It seemed to help, but I would wake up in the middle of the night and in the morning before work and have severe nausea and vomiting. I am now taking Requip, and it has been doing the same thing."
