Mometasone nasal for Allergic Rhinitis "I suffer year-round severe allergies with a runny, sneezy nose, blocked sinuses, and itchy, red, watery eyes. This product works... BUT for me, it isn't worth the side effects - chronic diarrhea, blurred vision, total loss of taste and smell, lethargy, anxiety, headaches, and abdominal cramps. I was taking it last year and had these symptoms, then stopped and they went away, but I didn't connect the two until THIS time when I went on it again. I've been on it for about 3 months, and back came the symptoms. So I did an online search and found so many others with the same experience using Nasonex. This week, I stopped again and will never use it again. This product can also cause Glaucoma and cataracts - how can people be ready to risk the serious side effects of this just for hay fever? I'd rather sneeze my way through life than be blind... and now I know why my vision has been blurry :("

Mometasone nasal for Nasal Polyps "I was prescribed by my doctor Nasonex for my polyps. I used it on and off for a couple of years, but only yesterday did it dawn on me that all this while, whenever I felt sickly with a very dry throat, difficulties in breathing, wheezing, trembling hands, dizziness, pressure behind my eyes, headache, muscle pains, neck pain, blurred vision, loss of balance, ear pains, difficulties in swallowing, and chest pains, it was all from after using Nasonex! I thought what was wrong with me. I even went to an emergency room thinking I was getting a stroke or a heart attack. Then I realized last night that all these symptoms only occur whenever I use Nasonex, but whenever I stopped using it, all of these symptoms would subside. So, I Googled for reviews and saw so many people have experienced these bad side effects. I wish I knew sooner!"

Mometasone nasal for Allergic Rhinitis "Horrible drug. Started using it, and within 24 hours, I'd started getting severe anxiety and severe depression. Came off of it, tried again at a lower dose, same thing to a slightly lesser degree. Also gave me headaches and a tight feeling in my throat. Can't take any lower a dose really, or it won't be effective. Never using this stuff again."

Mometasone nasal for Allergic Rhinitis "Negligible improvement of chronic rhinitis. Multiple nasty side effects including headaches, sore throat, muscular aches in throat, neck, and back as far down as the kidneys, occasional dizziness. These symptoms started after about a week of one puff per nostril per day, and they are persisting six weeks after stopping use of this product. It is like having a mild dose of influenza without any fever or elevated body temperature. It might work for some people, but for me, it is very bad news."

Mometasone nasal for Nasal Polyps "I have had polyps removed six times now and have been using Nasonex since it first came on the market. Maybe it stopped some from growing, but for the past five months, I have suffered headaches every day. Maybe I've used Nasonex for too many years for this to start happening. Since stopping the Nasonex, my headaches have ceased. What a relief."

For Sinus Symptoms "Use the mometasone nasal spray as directed, and within 30 minutes started with headache, ringing in ears, shaking, muscle and bone aches. Took antihistamine and had a sweet tea, this calmed me down. Will take this back to the chemist, never use again."

Mometasone nasal for Allergic Rhinitis "Nasonex worked great for what it was intended. My nasal passages opened up during the worst allergy season on record, and I didn't want to scratch my face off. I had to stop using it, though, because it was causing tension headaches and eye weirdness. I even stopped and started again to make sure it was the Nasonex, and it was. Oh well. It's worth trying if your insurance covers it, otherwise, it's $200+..."

Mometasone nasal for Sinus Symptoms "My son experienced an adverse reaction the morning after the first dose (1 spray per nostril). He complained of a headache I thought was just because of his colds, he coughed more frequently and late in the afternoon, he had a low-grade fever. Then he complained his legs ached. I related all these to different things like another cold or too much playing. Then I read the drug info, that's when I had a hunch, so after the second spray, I observed his reaction in the first 2 hours. Then the coughing happened again. I will stop the spray now and find a way to talk to the doctor tomorrow. I gave him Benadryl syrup and nebulized him with salbutamol. His usual treatment during attacks."

Mometasone nasal for Sinus Symptoms "Got prescribed Nasonex for sinusitis. I was supposed to be on it for a month, but I could only handle the side effect symptoms for a week. I wanted to alleviate my sinus symptoms because of the sinus headaches I was getting, but Nasonex just gave me even more intense headaches that made my cheeks and forehead go numb. My nasal cavities are a little clearer, but I can't even function with these headaches. So not worth the trade-off."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Always suffered with sinus problems, but about six months ago, I started to do a sinus rinse about three times a week. And one side of my sinus cleared. But the other side still felt blocked. Went to the doctor, they prescribed mometasone nasal spray. After three days of using, my sinuses felt really dry. Was getting headaches, felt dizzy. I came off it. I will persevere with my sinus wash."

For Sinus Symptoms "Was prescribed this to treat suspected chronic sinusitis. Well, 2-3 days after starting the spray, my symptoms turned from what looked like allergy (post-nasal drip, clear nasal discharge, sneezing) to a full-on infection, complete with facial pain, very thick yellow/green mucus, severe congestion, headaches, no sleep, mouth breathing at night, virtually no sleep. I went from a functioning person to someone who couldn’t even get the kids off to school in the mornings. Got put on a round of antibiotics, which did nothing, currently waiting on X-ray results to find out what on earth is going on. Be warned, the information sheet early states that this medication can exacerbate an existing viral or bacterial infection, and I’m pretty sure that is what happened here."

For Sinus Symptoms "Thank the Lord I found this thread and saw that I’m not the only one who had a bad reaction. I binned this after one use because I have had a pounding headache all day, as well as dizziness, literally walking into things, and have also just had diarrhea. My nose breathing feels sore, like after a heavy head cold, and my throat feels dry and tight. I’ve even felt very low and anxious after feeling great this morning before using it. I will stick to salt water sprays rather than risk this again."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I have been using mometasone furoate 50g nasal spray for the last 4 months, and it's a miracle for my rhinitis allergy. I got a runny nose, sneezing, and headache all year round for the last 15 years, and I've been using a lot of medicines like Rigix, Loratadine, Avamys spray, but nothing worked. I started researching about this allergy, found out about this spray, and talked to my doctor about it. This is the only spray that has worked, I feel so relieved and have no symptoms so far."

Mometasone nasal for Allergic Rhinitis "I've been using Nasonex off and on for quite a few years, especially in the wintertime, as I have a constant runny nose and frequent sinus infections. I recently realized that I have frequent headaches and migraines, mostly in the wintertime also. This medication was a godsend for me in the beginning, but it's not anymore. After long-term use, it seems like my sinuses are burning all the time, and my nose is still running whether I use it or not. I often have heart palpitations and have even had heart tests for that. I have decided to go off this medication for a long period of time to see if any of the symptoms I've described are caused by Nasonex."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Took 1 dose in the evening to alleviate allergy symptoms. The next morning, my throat was hurting more, and my nose was plugged. Throughout the day, my body started hurting, and I could feel my throat starting to close up. My tongue and uvula were swollen, my body was in immense pain, my hands were very red, and I was extremely lightheaded. I waited for an hour at the doctor's before almost going into anaphylactic shock. I got an injection, went home, and proceeded to take another dose of the nasal spray. That’s when it struck me that it’s the nasal spray that gave me this reaction. Immediately, the body pains and lightheadedness were back, this time accompanied by a very intense headache, fever, and chills. I took some antihistamines and went to bed, this feeling didn’t go away until I went back to the doctor the next day for another allergy shot. I’m now on a hefty dose of antihistamines, and I noticed the lining of my nose is swollen and slightly yellow. I hope I recover from this soon."

For Sinus Symptoms "Was prescribed after having ear problems and was told to take this as my nurse practitioner saw fluid in a tube behind my eardrum, and boy... I've never had these side effects before... and it's a nasal spray!! Have been taking it for over 2 weeks and my 'full head' feeling has improved, so it seems, and not as unsteady/dizzy as before but the last 2-3 days my anxiety has been horrible!! I used to take meds for it and have been fine without for a while, but all of a sudden, I get these horrible anxious feelings, on edge, even had the heart palpitations but thought it was muscle spasms, but I wonder... The anxiety with this med was worse than I ever had it prior to anxiety meds!! I've also had headaches but was told of this side effect, but the anxiety and not being able to 'feel like you can do anything as you can't take more stress' isn't worth all these extra things! I also had the eye pressure/spasms! Thank you for this site & people posting! It's not just me and I don't feel alone!!"

For Sinus Symptoms "I was prescribed mometasone for chronic sinusitis. I used it on and off for a few months but felt it was making my headaches worse and causing anxiety. Didn’t seem to ease the original problem. Original sinus headaches were less severe than headaches after taking medication. Encouraged to continue by GP and that my headaches would improve. Instead, the anxiety increased with heart palpitations. Burning feeling in throat and tightness. The worst side effect has been recent insomnia. Awake almost all night. Mind anxious. Feeling the need to wee throughout the night. After several nights of this, I have stopped taking it. Will not take it again. Thanks to others for sharing their experience as I thought I was becoming mentally unwell. Why aren’t GPs aware of this?"

Mometasone nasal for Nasal Polyps "I'm having implants removed next week. I have had morning headaches, a sinus infection, and for the past month, one of the most horrible smells in my sinuses. I have had an increase in brain fog. After reading the above comment, I was shocked to read another patient had this side effect. I was getting ready to have tests done for dementia. I will now wait a few months post-removal. I must say these sinus implants helped me at first, after years and years of treatment. By the second month, my body started reacting to them. Morning headache, bad taste all the time, bad smell all the time, brain fog - loss of words, sinus infection treated for 14 days. I will not participate again in sinus implants."

For Sinus Symptoms "I tried this on and off for allergies in summer and sinus problems in winter. It kind of works in summer for allergies, but in winter where my nose is not running but swollen and blocking, probably cause of dry air, it makes everything worse. I feel more dry, more ear pain, more headache, and it makes my throat ache too. I also have a suspicion that it makes health conditions worse if there is a virus like the common cold involved, as every time I take mometasone I start to have yellow thick mucus in the morning. This is especially worrying with the corona pandemic at the moment, so I would be careful. The best in winter is saltwater spray and azelastine if the nose is itching, and I use Nasic when I have a cold. But many times I don't know if I have a cold, or an irritated nose from dry air, or an allergic reaction to dust. It is a nightmare since 20 years my nose gets worse blocking and drying, and headaches get worse. I feel like all these sprays can't be good for the nose, especially when they contain preservatives like mometasone does."

For Sinus Symptoms "I've had sinusitis for at least 10 years now. Had turbinate reduction in both nostrils as they were nearly always blocked, especially while sleeping. It helped 25% in one and perhaps 50% in the other. After complaining again to ENT, he put me on the spray. It helped, but I noticed I was getting headaches if I took too much. Also, I have had 3 ear infections in one ear at least once a year where I need drops to clear. Recently, I went on a road trip out of province and forgot my spray. Didn't bother to get any, so I went without. Noticed my nose got clogged again, but no headaches for 3 weeks. When I came back, I loaded up on my spray and got an instant migraine that lasted the day. I will try to wean myself off this stuff and perhaps use a saline spray. I'm 67, male."

I will not use this product again and will try to find another product that will treat my post-nasal drip without any of these side effects."
