For Alopecia "I started to notice thinning in the front of my hair in my late 30s. Recently, it was more than I wanted. So I went to a major pharmacy and retail chain and purchased the generic Rogaine Extra Strength. For the first month, there was no change. But I heard that it really doesn't start working until the second month of applying it to your scalp. Next week is officially month two. I applied Rogaine twice a day, once in the morning and once before I went to bed. This last week, I noticed more hair growth. It works. Granted, it wasn't like I suddenly had the hair of a 15-year-old boy. Where my hair was thinning, it has grown in and the follicles appear thicker. I gave it a 7 out of 10 because the growth is not a huge amount, but there is some."

For Alopecia "I am so sad. I was a model and never took worth in how I looked. I had low self-esteem from bad relationships and a bad childhood. So I took for granted my beauty. I started to lose my hair when I was 24. I then tried this at 27. Before, everyone thought I was 20. I mean, I looked so young for 27 facially...and this was even how old people thought I was when I had clear thinning hair. Literally everyone. I used this product out of desperation. It caused my very pretty face, which I took for granted (just like we do hair), to age 7 years at least in 4 weeks. I got crow's feet, deep lines. I look old. I used to get comments that I was pretty even when it was obvious to anyone I was losing hair. It's really sad this isn't listed as a side effect. I have gone from being a model to this. Losing hair is one confidence issue. Wow. It is a true side effect. I'm so sad."

For Alopecia "What a nightmare this has been for me. After 3 months of using Rogaine, my desire to have sex has gradually disappeared. It has been 2 months since I stopped it, and nothing has changed. This side effect is not even listed as a possible reaction. And how long has this been on the market? I simply cannot believe that this poison has not been removed from the market or asexuality mentioned as a possible outcome of this. I have no idea when I will recover and if I will recover. I'm seeing a dermatologist soon. I hope he doesn't simply tell me that this is all in my head or not related to Rogaine because he will not like my reaction. I am terrified... I don't know what to do about this. I plan on contacting a lawyer about this."

For Alopecia "I have used the topical on my receding hairline. Twice a day - within two weeks I got a horrible headache that lasted 3 days. Stopped treatment. Started again once a day this time. Same effect. About two weeks went by, then got headache again. Stopped treatment. The second time, I used much less. Maybe a 1/2 Tbl total. I weigh 115 lbs."

For Alopecia "After a few months, I definitely had hair growth. I put it on in the bald spots. Guess what? The bald spots grow coarser, nasty, tough to style, thick, curly hair. Now the sides of my face have that nasty hair, along with the crown line. I'm going to stop using it. I would rather have thinning hair than clown hair."

For Alopecia "If you're suffering with androgenic alopecia or another form of hair loss, then DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF. I have been using minoxidil 5% (the active ingredient in Rogaine), and all that's happened is I've lost too much money and too much hair. This is because I stopped using it for a week by accident, and as a result, my hairline shot up higher than it ever had. When I read about how 2x a day isn't necessary, I cut down my usage, which resulted in another fairly immediate loss of hair. Now I have to style my hair in a specific way, and even that doesn't adequately cover up my patches of baldness. This product has not grown a single new hair for me and is nothing but a scam. It was also proven to be as effective as rosemary oil in a study, but without the side effects. I wish I had never bought this awful product."

For Alopecia "Rogaine works better than nothing. It works pretty well for the first 9 months to 1 year, and then it really slows down. It seems that the Rogaine hair falls out if you forget to use it for a few days, and then starts again as soon as you start using it again. They also have these stickers on the women's liquid boxes advertising a $10 or $25 refund. Don't believe it! They never pay, and if you contact them about it, they say they will do it, but again never pay you the refund. Don't buy it based on the refund."

For Alopecia "I noticed very minor recession and thinning on my temples and hairline, so I thought I would give Rogaine a try to see if it would thicken it up a little. I didn't expect wonders, but I certainly did not expect the result I got. My situation, which was incredibly minor, is now ridiculous. The areas I applied it are incredibly thin due to induced shedding, which only stopped a year down the line. It's only shed in exact positions I applied minoxidil. It also caused cysts, which have left permanent bald spots. Please don't do this to yourself, it's not a safe medication the way it's marketed, and even if you did respond well, it is a life sentence. Awful, awful drug with zero support, as nobody understands the drug."

"I’ve had two FUE hair treatments and have been using Rogaine soon after. My surgeons were impressed at the fast hair growth rate. They think it’s due to using Rogaine. I never thought I could have my hair back. Not only do I have my hair back, my hair is strong and looks pretty damn good. I am currently growing my hair out and Rogaine seems to give it that extra push, that extra length and strength. I gave it a 9/10 because Rogaine alone won’t give you your hair back (maybe a bit), and I feel hair loss isn’t really curable unless you have a hair procedure, but Rogaine can definitely help!"

For Alopecia "I had used for 2 weeks before visiting the dermatologist. I had horrible side effects - itching, dermatitis... my scalp was burning, drained. So bad. My derm stopped it right away. Now I'm on spironolactone for over 2 weeks. Not much difference yet... hope it's working."

"Have been using Rogaine for a period of 4 months, and no change was noticed at all! It was prescribed by my GP in Toronto, and I really had a strong hope to have my hair regrown! Because it is an ineffective product, I stopped using it! It is such a waste of time and money! I have no faith in Rogaine anymore! I recommend you take your time deciding whether to use it or not before buying it."

"I am only 31 and notice my hairline receding and some minor balding on the top. I have thick black hair and a family with no history of balding. It seems my Humira injections that treat my colitis and Crohn's have encouraged quick loss. I've been using Rogaine foam twice a day for 4 months now, and it's done wonders. The front is back in line, and the back is thicker. Over the moon. Of course, being younger than most people using Rogaine is most likely beneficial."

"Started using when I was 17 as a preventative measure when I noticed some slight shedding. My hairline was still very much intact. I used Rogaine for 4 years, and the quality of my hair greatly decreased and became wiry. It began thinning more where I placed the medication. After 4 years on Rogaine, I stopped using it at age 21. I am 25 now, and in the last 4 years, my hair loss has rapidly increased, specifically on the places on my head where I applied the Rogaine. My healthy hair became dependent on the medication and is now destroyed. I am so heartbroken and left looking much older than I actually am. To any young man thinking they should start this medication, please don’t. It has destroyed my appearance and self-esteem."

"Look, save yourself time, money, frustration, and hope. Get your credit straight and get a Care Credit loan, drive an older car for a while, and have hair transplant surgeons fix this nutty ugly mess the right way and be done with this snake oil crappy placebo. Heredity is stronger than this snake oil. You will lose more hair worrying if this ripoff works than worrying about the payments for having it fixed right."

"Been using Rogaine foam for just two days. I am experiencing an itchy scalp, redness, and small bumps on my face, neck, and behind my ears. Also, my trouble spots feel very hard and lumpy. I hope that goes away after being in my system a few days."

"I started using Rogaine for women 1 month ago. My hair was thinning at the top from the fringe area, and when the spotlights shone, I could see my scalp. I can see no results yet, but I suppose it's probably too early."

For Alopecia "I had been losing my hair slowly for several years. I tried all kinds of alternative therapies, supplements, and other nonsense because I was afraid of trying Rogaine. None of those things helped at all. So I finally tried Rogaine after my hair stylist commented on how much hair fall I had each time I came in. I was really worried about scalp irritation since I have sensitive skin. But I'm happy to say that I haven't had any irritation at all. I'm about 8 months in, and I have a ton of new growth. My hair is shoulder length, with the new growth being about 2-3 inches long. That looks a little funny, but I don't mind. The new hair is the same texture, color, and quality as the existing hair. Rogaine has helped me keep my hair. If you try it, you need to give it 3-4 months before you'll see new hair growing. Stick with it. It works."

For Alopecia "Priced way too high and ineffective for me. I was buying 3 every month and a half for almost $30 a can. Switched to a generic 5% minoxidil foam a month and a half ago and still haven't finished the first bottle. 3 of the generic cans cost me $30 altogether. It smells better than Rogaine, no pink tax. It lasts so long. Best of all, I get better results. Do yourselves a favor and buy from the little guys."

For Alopecia "I was in my fifties when my hair began thinning on my crown. I have been taking Rogaine for 4 months now. I saw no change for the first 2 months, but now the hair loss is no longer noticeable. No side effects. Recommended for male pattern baldness. I am a customer for life."

For Alopecia "I stopped using Rogaine months ago after using it off and on for 7 years or so. I’ve been noticing scalp pain and tenderness off and on, especially after too much tension from, for example, a braid that was too tight. I just realized after another painful experience last night that the tender areas are exactly where I was using Rogaine all that time. It literally hurt to touch my scalp and felt like I’d hit my head, even though I hadn’t. There was no redness, no pink skin, and everything looked fine. I'm certain that Rogaine is the cause of this."

"I used to have very thick hair. When I was about 65, I noticed how thin my hair was getting and was horrified. I could clearly see my scalp to the middle of the top of my head. I told this to my doctor. He mentioned Rogaine. I had heard about Rogaine for years and thought it must be too good to be true and probably doesn't work. I began using it on October 17, 2017, and it is now April 14, 2018. My hair is completely normal. If I had not seen this for myself, I would not have believed it. If I keep the top part cut short, it actually looks thick. It is starting to grow out longer, and the scalp can faintly be seen. I am more than happy with this product."
