"This medication raised my heart rate, and it dropped my blood pressure and landed me in the emergency room for 3 days! I remember taking it and feeling the urge to pee, then I have this burning sensation all over my body, then the dry mouth kicked in, and then convulsions and weak legs, then the tachycardia and faint feeling, then the panic set in, and the flushing and burning in my ears, severe pressure in my head, abdominal cramping, and finally severe dizziness. It was the worst thing I had ever tried...! I was very upset at the way I reacted to it."

"I am greatly disappointed that they are going to take Midodrine off the market. I have taken it for about 8 years with fantastic results. Without it, I have syncope often. I am really researching what to do because I rely on this medicine for help with my hypotension. I tried to go off of it once and passed out in my boss's arms, which was embarrassing. I got back on it, and not had a problem since. Even on medication, my blood pressure runs 100/70, but off of Midodrine, I have to work to keep it at 88/60, sometimes, it is less than that, and syncope is definite. I WISH they would reconsider taking it off the market."

"I suffer from both hypotension (70/40 on a good day) and chronic fatigue syndrome. I needed to get surgery on an unrelated issue, and we were worried about my blood pressure. So my doctor decided to try midodrine 10 mg, up to 3 times a day. Without exaggeration, this saved my life. I can now not only sit up but stand without passing out. Furthermore, I can stay awake like then 3 hours a day. Does this give me chills and goosebumps? Yes. But my goodness, I have my life back. I'll take the goosebumps and wear a sweater."

"I take 60 mg a day of midodrine (20 mg x 3/day), and prior to ever taking it, I was barely able to do anything from standing, walking, sometimes even just sitting without passing out. Life was getting pretty dark, to say the least, as not only mentally and physically but also financially, as I was unable to even work. It took a little bit for my body to acclimate to the medication, but now I can work, walk around, sit. I still have trouble standing in one place, and it doesn't quite hold for a full 4 hours in between doses, but it's truly been a miracle for me. Some side effects being my head itches, and sometimes it feels a funny sensation. I get what feels like popping skin crawls (not quite goosebumps), and I don't feel cold. It's enough to make me giggle. The reality of what it used to be vs. the open possibilities now makes all of it worth it to me."

"I was taking 2.5 mg three times a day for my hypotension until my BP rose to 184/89. Then my GP reduced it to a half three times a day or two as required, which appears to be working fine now. My low BP had been down to 60/40ish, so seeing it around 120/70 cheers me no end, even though the frequent urination, feeling sick, and confusion, plus leg muscle pain, enabled my GP to find an alternative to midodrine. I was taking fludrocortisone, which put me in the hospital twice."

"I have medication-induced hypotension from taking risperidone. It got to the point where I couldn’t even stand up without fainting or near fainting. I didn’t want to come off the medicine because it worked so well for all my symptoms, so my doctor added midodrine. This medication gave me my life back. I know there are others out there that are going through the same thing who are on antipsychotics, so have a talk with your doctor and try it. I’m not saying it’ll work for everyone, but it’s worth giving it a shot."

"I was prescribed 2.5 mg three times per day. I got pretty intense side effects from that dose, so I cut those in half and took two pills per day, four hours apart. So, yes, they do work as far as finally not feeling like passing out when I go from sitting for a while to standing up. That's great! I feel like the side effects are intolerable for me though! Even taking a tiny amount now, I have terrible chills all day, and my skin crawls and tingles constantly, making me nervous and woozy. One day, my heart was pounding so badly, causing my whole body to shake, which made my body even more numb and pinprickly, that I went to the ER thinking I was having a stroke or something. They told me I had anxiety and low potassium (I'm thinking that was from the constant peeing from this medication). So I don't know what to do now. I like the positive of not feeling lightheaded, but the tingles, anxiety, and all might not be worth that benefit."

"It significantly improved my mother's quality of life. She is a heart and renal patient, and due to low blood pressure, she was always feeling dizzy and was unable to carry out simple tasks at home. She was always sitting or lying down. Since this medication was started, she has improved a lot without experiencing any side effects. Positive result with this medication. It should be licensed."

"I have orthostatic hypotension, and midodrine has given me my energy back. I can do household chores and hygiene tasks far more easily, and my thinking is clearer as well. Whenever my dose was increased to get me to my current level, I experienced some chills and scalp tingling for two weeks, and then that side effect disappeared. I’ve had no other side effects. I do take it 4 times a day because of the relatively short effectiveness."

"I was prescribed this following 18 months of fainting, exhaustion, low blood pressure. The first time I managed a month before becoming very depressed. I was so down that my family were really concerned. I stopped it but then decided to try again when completing a month's cardiac monitoring that my consultant wanted (I hadn't mentioned the side effects). Again, within a week or so of starting, I began to feel extremely low and depressed. My blood pressure had improved, normally around 85/50, but the bad far outweighed the good!"

"Was prescribed for fainting/low blood pressure. I started taking this, and it made me have involuntary facial expressions, and I started fainting repeatedly. Allergic reaction, so I had to stop using it immediately."

"A year ago this past May 29th, I woke up in the middle of the night weak and disoriented. My husband took my blood pressure and it was 54/42. He was concerned and headed me to the hospital an hour away. I was in and out of consciousness all the way. When we arrived at the hospital, I passed out after they got me into a wheelchair. By the time they got me back and took my blood pressure again, it had bottomed out. I almost did not make it. When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed in a hospital gown with no recollection of what went on. My family doctor was concerned as my blood pressure was pretty low. Up until this happened, it was around 127/80. He sent me to one of the best hospitals in eastern TN, Vanderbilt. They were not able to pinpoint why. Now that I am taking midodrine, my blood pressure averages around 103/74, pulse 80-100, and I’m not tired all the time. I only take it 2 times a day as the side effects of lightheadedness bother me."

"My neurologist put me on this midodrine. I couldn’t stand and walk 5 ft without going down. I was getting ready to accept life in a power chair. I have CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy). I have lost 60% of the nerves in my legs due to severe neuropathy. The blood vessels do not get the signal from my brain to constrict just before I stand up, so the blood drains down and I go down."

"I was prescribed this for my low blood pressure. I was hoping it would work (which it did not). I tried it, and it gave me such bad chills, a prickling sensation, and goosebumps all over my body for several hours straight, up to almost 10 hours. My dose was 5 mg TID (three times a day). It made my nerve damage worse by making it hurt and have a pinching sensation. For the side effects, it was not worth it, even if there was a chance it would have worked, I still would not have taken this drug. It was awful, and I felt like I was being tortured. It was horrendous and up there with the most painful and yuckiest side effects one could experience from a drug. I am lost and have tried more pills, salt, and compression stockings. I am currently waiting for my insurance to approve another drug that is supposed to help with increasing my blood pressure, but I'm not having luck. Until then, I have to deal with the lows and being symptomatic sometimes, which is fatigue, palpitations, dizziness, or near passing out."

"I have been using this drug by one manufacturer and had great results. These did not cost me under my insurance. Now I have to get it from another manufacturer, and it lowers my blood pressure even though it is supposed to be the same product. And now I have to pay for it."

"It got me up to a normal blood pressure, which was so nice, but I cannot tolerate the side effect. Each time I take it (without fail), my scalp becomes so itchy, it’s unbearable. I need to talk to my doctor and see if I can try something else for my low BP."

"I have been using midodrine 5 mg for two years. Since using this generic brand, it is nowhere near as effective as another generic pharmaceutical. Winn-Dixie was carrying a brand made by Xiromed that was 10 times more effective."

"On May 29, 2023, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling extreme cold, shivered uncontrollably, and disoriented. My husband took my BP, it was 54/42. He was concerned and headed me to the hospital an hour away. I was in and out of consciousness all the way. When we arrived at the hospital, I passed out after they got me into a wheelchair. By the time they got me back and took my BP again, it was almost nonexistent, I was not aware of anything until I woke up in my hospital bed. "I had craniotomy surgery in July for a tumor that was benign, and here I was blaming all my pain, pressure in my head, and headaches on the craniotomy when it was midodrine all along. I do home hemodialysis at home. The doctor raised my dosage to 30 mg because my blood pressure drops when doing dialysis. I see him on Tuesday and will tell him I can’t take this dosage. It is too high. It doesn’t help, my blood pressure drops in the middle of doing my treatment, then towards the end it comes back up. I do not like this medicine, but it looks like I have no choice. It does help bring the blood pressure up in the beginning, but then BP drops again. I decided to take 20 mg in the morning, and then when my BP drops again, I will take the additional 10 mg. The last time this happened, I took it and I felt better."

"I have been on this medicine for thirteen years (since age 17) without issue. Taking this medicine enables me to live my life with only the occasional (rather than inevitable) fainting, dizziness, and exhaustion. My doctor tried to switch me to lower doses, but my symptoms immediately kick in and make it difficult to function. Regular doses have made all the difference in my life."
