"I was on Lo Loestrin but had to be switched to Tri-Lo-Sprintec (have also taken Tri-Lo-Marzia, both of which are supposed to be the generic brands) because apparently no insurance companies cover Lo Lo anymore. I have been experiencing very red, blotchy, and big pimples near my chin, jawline, and cheeks. I am 20 years old and have experienced acne but never to this extent. I thought it was just me and saw a dermatologist, went on Clindamycin and Tretinoin, but those aren't helping. Finally decided it was time to make an appointment with my gyno and try to find something else that works for me. It has not affected my sex drive, but I do experience vaginal dryness at times. I was being told that the acne was from what I eat, but I eat relatively healthy and work out 3-4 times a week. Would not recommend this pill to anyone. Even if they say it is generic for Lo Loestrin, I wouldn't try it, and if you do-don't wait as long as I did to realize that new, persistent acne is most likely from this pill."

"I took Tri-Lo-Marzia for 10 months. I have PCOS, and it didn’t help my symptoms at all, and I feel like it made them even worse. Actually, my hair is falling/thinning, new body hair is growing, oilier skin. Aside from that, I felt extremely depressed all the time, and every time I started a new pack, the first week I always had raging anger. It regulated my cycle up until the last 3 months when I kept having random spotting. Then I finally switched pills."

"My primary recommendation for Tri-Lo birth control to help regulate my really irregular periods and acne. My acne was not that bad, but she sold it to me. I had started it, and almost a week later my acne became worse than I could imagine. Painful, itchy, and I couldn’t cover it up from how red the breakouts were. My mood was so bad I felt as if I was better off alone, and just all my insecurities were amplified by 10. I didn’t gain any weight, but my face and body were very bloated. These were my symptoms after only 3 weeks. I know you should give it time, but reading reviews and knowing my body, I’m not putting myself through that. Throwing it away."

"This medicine quite literally ruined my life, to the point I thought I developed severe bipolar. I took it for about 2 years as a late teen, originally for my acne. It did half its job for my skin, but I definitely still got pimples regularly. On the other hand, I developed endometriosis after never having cramps before, had no sexual desire for my long-term boyfriend anymore (we eventually broke up due to this), became extremely angry and depressed, and I got nauseous almost weekly (even after multiple years). I didn’t realize how terribly the medication affected me until after stopping it— the “mental illness” I thought I had developed magically disappeared almost immediately. The only positives I have about this birth control are that it grew my boobs from an A cup to a C cup within a month and that I’m not pregnant (but I was still very safe, so I’m not sure I’d accredit that to the medicine). Everyone is different, but I would recommend anything else."

"Was prescribed this for acne. Helped clear up about 75% of it, which is good. I also don’t get as moody or as many cramps on my period. Little weight gain (5 pounds). However, my period happens roughly twice a month now, which is very annoying, although it is a little lighter than it used to be. According to my doctor, give it at least 3 months for your hormones to adjust, and you have to take it at the same exact time every day. With my inconsistent work schedule and general forgetfulness, this medication is not the best fit for me, but if you’re trying to find a solution for acne and PMS symptoms, it will help."
