Dronedarone for Atrial Fibrillation "I ended up in the ER with A-fib 120+ beats per minute for 3+ hours. Started Multaq the next day. Six weeks later, I had a 10-hour episode. I also experience gastro problems and hot flashes to the tune of $700 per month. Call into cardiologist...no response."

Dronedarone for Atrial Fibrillation "Had 3 A-fib episodes, usually go 6 months between episodes. Now finally a drug I can tolerate, except it does give me a bad stomach. Hope that comes around. Was not able to take other drugs. VA pays for meds, otherwise, I probably would not pay the $500. Every 3 months, it costs. Someone needs to get this pricing down. 8 stars because EXPENSIVE."

Dronedarone for Atrial Fibrillation "I was recently diagnosed with both atrial flutter and AFIB. I have to come off the drug after the 8th dose (4th day) due to severe side effects that progressively got worse each day. My hands and feet swelled, nausea, diarrhea, pounding headaches, foggy, dizzy, loss of memory. My EP also prescribed Ranolazine (RANEXA EQ) 500 mg/2x a day. I stopped taking both drugs yesterday and started taking Flecainide (Tambacor EQ) 100 mg/2x a day."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Have had paroxysmal Afib since 1978. Digoxin controlled my Afib reasonably successfully until summer of 2012, when the frequency and duration of my Afib occurrences increased to an event every two or three months. Then, in May 2013, I almost passed out during an Afib episode. Switched to MULTAQ 400 mg twice daily after being admitted to the hospital, and my Afib has been under control ever since. I notice some missed beats occasionally, but nothing like the random palpitations I had during Afib. MULTAQ is working for me."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I have a fib and taking 400 mg of Multaq and 25 mg of metoprolol 2x daily. I have been on this medication for 2 months. The first issue with the drug is ear ringing, which is extremely bad to the point of affecting concentration and even sleep. I have noticed a significant reduction in the quality of sleep and have regular nightmares, which I never had prior to taking the medication. My heart constantly feels like it is stressed or burning, as if I ran a long distance without warming up first. I am 50 years old and in excellent physical condition. I have experienced a dramatic increase in hair loss in two months. The worst experience by far, however, is the incredible amount of belly bloating and muscle spasms. The bottom line, the drug has stopped my a fib, however, the side effects are extreme for me. I would highly recommend you try other options prior to this drug. I will be going off the medication as soon as possible."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Have been taking dronedarone for 7 years. No problems of any kind, and my AF was initially reduced to two episodes of several hours in the first few years. Now, I have not had any AF for 3 years. No discernible side effects whatsoever. Literally a life saver."

For Atrial Fibrillation "On this medication for one year now. Have had several atrial fibrillation episodes, with the longest duration 17 days, all with self-conversion. Previously on sotalol and digoxin. Ablation probably in the not too distant future, but not looking forward to it. Have severe sleep apnea and all episodes but one triggered during sleep."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I have chronic atrial fibrillation, had 5 cardioversions over 2 years. Return to normal rhythm lasted from 4 to 6 months. Doctor prescribed Multaq; subsequent cardioversion (#6) retained normal rhythm only 4 months. Had #7 cardioversion March 2, still on Multaq. If normal rhythm doesn't last at least 6 months, I'll quit Multaq."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Prescribed Multaq for afib---gained ten pounds in six days, became breathless and totally fatigued. Discontinued Multaq after six days and lost six pounds in twelve hours, regained breath and no longer fatigued. Multaq resulted in CHF! The cure was worse than the disease."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I was given this drug in 2009 in an effort to control AFib. I was on it for one month, and it did nothing to help the AFib. Following a cardiac ablation in 2015, I developed random, but frequent PAC (premature atrial contraction)/PVC (premature ventricular complex) activity. My EP suggested the use of this drug to eliminate these events. I have been on the drug for approximately 3 weeks, initially on 200 mg 2 times per day. Following about 10 days, and no improvement, the dosage was increased to 400 mg 2 times per day. The events continue at about the same frequency and still random, however, the intensity of the events seems to be lessened."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I've only had one episode of diagnosed and monitored Afib. My heart rhythm came back on its own after 4 hours. They put me on Multaq, 400 mg, twice a day. This drug is so hard on my stomach, even taken with some food. You have to take it with a whole, moderate-to-large meal, not just something like a roll or piece of toast. Twice a day, breakfast and dinner, and that puts weight on. My cardiologist put me on Nexium, 20 mg, at first once a day, then twice a day. I am supposed to take the Nexium before eating in the morning and at bedtime. Before eating works OK in the morning and I might get away without symptoms from Multaq then. Once I take the 2nd dose of Multaq, my stomach is bad for the evening and overnight. Endless burping and indigestion, and sometimes diarrhea. I have GERD, which was under control until I started Multaq. The stomach problems caused by Multaq make it difficult to take other necessary medications during the day. No more Afib, but I MUST get off Multaq."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Was put on dronedarone after I developed Afib. Doctors tried cardioversion and it only lasted one day and back to afib. They started me on Eliquis and dronedarone twice a day, which worked almost immediately to stop all my afib. I do occasionally have bradycardia in the morning when I first wake up, but this is normal and nothing to worry about according to my cardiologist. I have a history of HBP, and it is now very good with the help of these two drugs. I've been on it for about 6 months and have had no side effects at all. So far, a great drug. My doctor also recommended a product called Kardia Mobile. You buy the unit, and it works in conjunction with your smartphone, and you can do your own EKG that is stored on your phone for you or your doctor to see. Another great product. It tells you in 30 seconds if you're in afib or several other heart problems. Well worth the investment."

Dronedarone for Atrial Fibrillation "Had AFIB very mild on occasion, did not realize what it was - hardly noticed. Collapsed right next to the fire rescue station - I went down in the grass. Called 911, told dispatch who I was and where I was, and I said, just tell paramedics I am 'Chili Rich,' they'll know who I am since I make them chili. Was in bad fibrillation and flutter - it took me lights and siren to the hospital. In the hospital for 4 days. Paramedics gave me a drug that begins with M, + metropolol + 4 baby aspirin to chew. Finally left the hospital on Multaq and Eliquis after metropolol and Coumadin both gave side effects. Have not had flutter or AFIB, even mild, since then. Occasionally get EKG at the fire/rescue station between doc visits. 400 mg, one with breakfast, one with dinner. Benefit - no AFIB. Side effects - 0. Easy to use."
