"I’m shocked seeing so many reviews about how it works in only a week-currently 3 weeks in and no change. I broke out significantly worse after the first week or so, but that seems to have tapered off. Don’t think it was related to the medications, my skin just goes in waves. I’ll keep using it because there’s not much else to do, but don’t expect instant results!"

"For acne, the 'pill' was the best thing I had ever used. It cleared it 100%, but the last 3 months I've been off the pill because I'm trying for a baby. Since being off it, my face has broken out so bad. I went to the doctors, and they prescribed me clindamycin, and it has done nothing but made my skin 100 times worse than when I started it! I'm so angry..."

"This medicine has been a total godsend. I'm a 42 y/o balding WM and keep my hair buzzed from the neck up using a #1 guard on my clippers. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to get moderate acne on my head, probably from a combination of working out/sweating a lot and having naturally oily skin. The red bumps all over my head were not only unsightly but, at times, surprisingly painful. I went to the dermatologist for something else and happened to ask about my scalp acne, so she prescribed the 1% topical solution with the 'roll-on' applicator. After 1 week of applying 1x daily, my head looks and feels totally normal again! I can't believe I didn't discover this sooner. It's super easy to use, economical (I paid $8 at Costco for a 30 mL container), and has no side effects that I have been able to notice. After applying, there is a nice tingling sensation that makes me feel like it's working. Highly recommend this if you struggle with unsightly, painful acne like I was."

"My dermatologist put me on the topical solution of clindamycin phosphate for acne in early June, along with adapalene gel, which I had been using for a few months before. After a couple of weeks, the clindamycin made my skin completely clear, it was amazing! Since then, it has kept my skin pretty clear, but my one major complaint is that it has made my skin incredibly red and oily constantly. I have tried to get off of the solution because of how bad it became, but the redness and oiliness now won't go away, and getting off of the solution only made me break out as well. Besides that, it's great, but beware of the side effects that may arise after a couple of months!"

"Clindamycin gel is no more effective than using an over-the-counter acne medication. Your practitioner will likely couple this topical acne med with benzoyl peroxide (to avoid bacteria resistance). As always, consult with a doctor after 8-12 weeks of using this product. Didn't clear my acne but improved my skin."

Clindamycin topical "In college, I got bacne (back acne) out of nowhere and mildly on my face. I asked my Dr. for clindamycin 1% pledgets and found them very helpful as an addition to other acne products I was using. I wash my face and back with Obagi gentle cleanser, wait for it to dry completely, then applied Obagi 2.5% salicylic acid solution with a cotton wipe and wait for that to dry, then use the clindamycin 1% pledgets. This combination of clindamycin 1% and salicylic acid 2.5% quickly cleared much of my inflammatory acne and whiteheads up. It dried up the pimples. A week after starting this regimen, I added tazorac 0.1% every few nights, the other nights, I applied Finacea (azelaic acid 15%) after the clindamycin dried. About 3 weeks later, I began Aczone (dapsone 7.5%). I also added in a moisturizer, glycerin 20% at the same time. With this entire combination, my bacne had decreased roughly 92% within less than 7 weeks. The inflammatory papules and whiteheads are significantly reduced, almost gone."

"I had moderate to severe acne as a teenager (about 8 years ago) that cleared up by the time I was 18 after my derm put me on antibiotics and topical medications. I only got the occasional pimple but was nothing severe. Just this year, my acne returned, possibly due to a stressful period and/or vitamin B12 injections. It was mild to moderate. I went to my derm, and she prescribed me doxycycline 100 mg once a day just for 5 days and advised me to apply clindamycin phosphate gel 3 nights a week after washing my face. My acne stopped almost immediately after the first application (just a small mild initial breakout, but nothing bad). After 2 weeks, I stopped breaking out completely. My skin now feels amazing and I haven't had a breakout for more than a month! The gel is very easy to apply and sinks in immediately. It may take a few applications to get used to its feel and smell."

"Used for 3 months as directed by my doctor. Initially, I had a really bad rash, but I persisted, and my skin did become less sensitive to the product. It feels like it is burning once applied, but this feeling goes away in a few minutes. I had the clearest and smoothest skin ever when I was on it, but this did not last and eventually went back to 'normal' and potentially got even worse after the 3 months. Although I never irritated or dried out my skin because I was on top of my moisturizer, I was also worried about the effects of the alcohol in the product."

"I had acne since middle school. It was on my forehead, on the bridge of my nose, etc. As I got older, it was persistently on my cheeks, to the right and left of my mouth. I had enough of it and finally visited a doctor on demand, as I didn't want to go to a dermatologist. She prescribed clindamycin phosphate gel. She told me to use salicylic acid to wash my face before using it, but I ignored that due to my face drying up, but still managing to get acne any chance it got. Anyways, this gel worked like a dream. Not only will it prevent acne, but it will diminish it within a day or two. For the record, I wash my face with just purified tap water, then apply the gel before bed. It's wonderful."

"I would 100% recommend clindamycin topical. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks now, my doctor told me to use it alongside doxycycline, and my skin cleared up within 5-7 days because of the solution. Other friends that have used it say that your skin does get used to the product, so it stops working, but it’s a fantastic short-term solution."

"I had mild adult acne on my chest and back that wasn't going away. One week in, and my acne tripled. I went from a handful of bumps to my whole chest, shoulders, and back being severely broken. I also broke out in a rash."

"After about three weeks of using clindamycin 1%/benzoyl 5% gel, I am amazed! I have had mild to moderate acne since puberty and have tried every kind of breakout treatment, including various over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide gels and washes with salicylic acid. I even tried retinoids, which improved my congested skin but never completely eliminated angry, inflamed breakouts, especially during my period. Since starting this C/BP treatment, my skin has improved dramatically. Breakouts are not becoming as inflamed, and therefore they are clearing up much faster. Seeing this improvement has slowed down my compulsive and frustrating tendency to pick at my skin, which has also helped the healing process. My eczema and dry flakiness have disappeared since stopping the use of retinoids (I switched from adapalene to tretinoin and then back to adapalene over the course of three years). The condition of my skin is finally normalizing, and I am so relieved!"

"I was prescribed clindamycin phosphate gel 1% for acne, and my dermatologist asked me to use it for the rest of my life. Just applying it for a couple of hours daily and washing it off. Skin-wise, I didn’t experience any side effects, but I got a urinary tract infection and vaginal itching after starting to use this gel. My UTI has been so stubborn that I’m suffering so much to get it cured. I don’t know if I’m the only one who has experienced this with this medicine. I’m not even sure if it’s because of this medicine only or not, and if I should continue using this gel. It’s just been two weeks since I started to use it."

"I was prescribed Treclin 1% (clindamycin 10 mg and tretinoin 0.25 mg) nearly 2 months ago by my derm. I've struggled with acne since I was 13, I'm now 19. I used Epiduo for 2 years, and that seemed to work, but would make my skin really irritated, dry, and pale. I took this alongside on and off Lymecyclin oral antibiotics. My skin got worse when I became immune to the antibiotics, and the irritation from the Epiduo got worse. I needed something less harsh that was going to clear me up. Up to now, Treclin has made my skin worse than it's ever been. I'm getting spots mainly along my jawline and chin (I never have had spots there before), and they are making me really self-conscious to the point I don't want to leave my house."

"At first, I tried the clindamycin in alcohol, but it was too harsh on my skin. My dermatologist switched me to the lotion. I love the lotion! I don't have to apply additional lotion to my face, this combo does the trick. My face hasn't fully cleared yet, as I'm only 3 weeks into applying it twice daily, but I'm noting a big improvement. I have hormonal acne, and I can tell it really has cut down my hormonal acne too."

"I loved clindamycin at first. It worked beautifully for about a year and a half. Never had my skin been clearer. My acne was mostly small textured bumps, and they totally disappeared. Then my acne began coming back, slowly at first, but definitely not due to lifestyle changes or anything. Clindamycin simply didn't work for me. Now my acne is back in full force, and clindamycin literally cannot do anything to it. Quite sad because it worked wonderfully when it did..."

"I'm 13 and started using clindamycin topical about a year and a month ago. My daily routine is using a cleanser to wash my face, apply the clindamycin topical in the morning, and then moisturize. At night, it's the same routine except a different topical. I am also taking an antibiotic twice a day every day. Last year, my acne was terrible. I was so insecure about it. The topicals and antibiotics helped, but very slowly. It's been over a year and my acne is still very bad. I have not missed one day of doing my routine morning and night, so I am growing impatient. I have done it for over a year and it's so little improving my face. I also get chemical peels every month to help with the breakouts coming in. Terrible."

"I was prescribed the topical gel 'Taro-Clindamycin/Benzoyl Peroxide' for acne therapy. Perhaps I used it wrong or applied too much. Within 48 hours of the first application, I experienced a small rash breakout all over my face and neck. You can't see it until you're up close, but I can feel it on my skin and when I touch it. It's itchy and dry. This has happened to me before, but it was so long ago I'm not sure if it was from the same antibiotic."

"I'm 24, male. I just want to tell my journey with this monster on my face... hahaha. I thought someone cursed me, that's why I have had this freaking nodular acne on my face. My face was so clear before, it just started to break out when my shift changed at the graveyard. I had this horrible acne, and I literally hate having this. I've tried so many treatments, such as home remedies and rejuvenating sets, but it doesn't work. Then one day, my friend advised me to go to my skin doctor to have myself checked and to treat this acne. So today is my first day using this gel, and I hope I'll get the best result like yours. I'll keep you posted. Cheer up to those people who are still suffering from acne, especially the severe one."

"Do not take this!! Worst experience of my life. Made my acne 100X worse. Also made my face really red and greasy. Not effective AT ALL. I have no idea why my doctor would prescribe me this. Ruined my life, can't stand being seen like this. Try benzoyl peroxide. Much more effective. Dries out your skin, but an easy fix with lotion."

"This was a terrible experience. The pharmacist warned me of the side effects, but I just thought it would not affect me as other medicines have not. This stuff gave me diarrhea, cramps, and nausea. My doctor had instructed me to take it for 7 days. After 1.5 days, I could not stomach this. I called him, and he told me not to take any more of this medicine."

"Typically started treatment with clindamycin phosphate clear gel. It doesn't irritate skin. If I have some rashes or pimple irritation on skin, I also use Fudic (fusidic acid) clear gel. It will show big results. Only keep calm and be patient. Also, can use Havglo cream for your scars. I am also suffering from acne and scar. I started treatment, and these creams are prescribed by my skin doctor. So remember to consult with a skin doctor."

"Prescribed the topical clindamycin to control minor acne on my back and chest. Within 3 days, I had broken out worse than I have ever in my life. It's so bad. I immediately stopped, and 2 weeks later, the acne is still terrible and not going away. Complete opposite of what was supposed to happen. If it doesn't clear up soon, I may be going back to the derm."
