Armodafinil "I work 12-hour long midnight shifts and am 49 years old. I take the Nuvigil before work and don't find it nearly as hard to stay awake and alert all night. I have been using it for over 6 months now and have found that I have plenty of energy when I wake up and before I take any Nuvigil, so I feel the medication gets built up and offers you energy on a round-the-clock basis. I take 150 mg a day. I think it is a great medication, and I couldn't do without it."

Armodafinil "Started shift work again after 20 years and was dragging! Doc put me on the armodafinil and it’s been a blessing! I can stay fully awake and engaged and go through my days without a hint of exhaustion! This even helped during a recent opioid withdrawal episode after an accident and cut the sick time down a day or two."

"Brand name Nuvigil works great to keep me awake and alert while working a busy and long night shift in a position (paramedic) where I must be alert. Energy drinks just don’t cut it. I was also switched to generic (Sandoz) and was drowsy throughout the entire nights and had a very distracting headache. I stopped them all and plan to get back on the real stuff if it doesn’t break me. I can still perform as I have for 20 years, but it takes a good bit of effort to keep my brain kicking at 3 a.m. Thanks for listening."

"Started on Nuvigil for symptoms of anxiety and excessive daytime sleepiness. Started taking Nuvigil in November. My first symptom was excessive salivation, my stomach would get upset, felt nauseated. I felt like I had a dry lump in my throat continuously. It affected my normal swallowing of saliva, but I had no trouble swallowing water or food. Lost 33 lbs in 4-5 months. Then my mouth, lips, and tongue started burning. I stopped taking Nuvigil in March. The mouth burning has subsided some. I still feel nauseated at times. Taking Tums and omeprazole for my stomach symptoms. Last Dr. visit, my omeprazole was doubled and I was also put on Zantac. Had an EGD. All came out normal. It's been 8 months, and my nausea and burning mouth continue."

Armodafinil "Been taking Adderall to get me through my long days and just did not like the crash and pounding headache to follow. It also seemed no two days were ever the same, one day just lots of energy and no headache the next day just really tired, jittery, and massive headache. My doctor put me on Nuvigil 250 mg, I always start lower than he wants so I started at 150 mg in the morning to ease into it. I planned a couple of low-key days at home to get my body used to it, and my brain could focus on work and not the drug. About the third day, I got off early to stop by Kroger to grab food for dinner that night. Got back to my truck and had to literally sit there for hours, I could not even get the truck into gear. My mind had checked out, I knew what I was doing, but I was not going to do it. The act of driving scared the crap out of me. I called my sister and spoke with her for several hours, drank lots of water, I finally got my courage up to try and make my way back home. I was so jittery, paranoid to the bone."

"I work 8:30pm-6:30am 4 nights a week, with 3 days off. I have a hard time sleeping during the day, which means I have a hard time staying awake when I’m working all night. I started armodafinil 150 mg today before my night shift. I only slept 2-4 hours today, but I feel like I slept 10 hours. I’m wide awake and super productive at work. I usually drink 200-300 mg of caffeine at work, but I won’t be drinking any caffeine tonight because I don’t feel like I need it. I recommend drinking lots of water and eating with the pill. My side effects: headache (probably from lack of caffeine), racing heart, nausea, hot (feels like I took a thermogenic). I also don’t like that it can cause birth control to be ineffective, but the benefits outweigh the side effects for me. I would definitely recommend!"

Armodafinil "OMG, this is a condition that can be medically treated? You've got to be kidding me! I have wrestled with this since I was in grade school. I was called lazy and told I wasn't applying myself. Even at one of my earliest jobs, others laughed at me saying, 'I don't need a clock to tell me when it is lunchtime. I just look or listen for G's work boots, because they don't move or make a sound until noon or lunchtime.' Hope that makes sense to all. All my days now are spent with hours wasted just griping at myself for why I can't get going before noon or 1 pm, and why I can hardly sleep before 4 am, and all I need is 3 to 4 hours. Day after day, I reassert myself to try to get going earlier and go to bed earlier, but it is all useless."

"A life-saving medication, but beware of the plateau effect. As others have mentioned, it nearly cures all of the listed conditions here within about an hour. Excessive sleepiness, depression, ADHD, etc. I technically had shift work disorder when I took this medication, and it allowed me to feel energized and at the top of my game all day. It didn't give me the afternoon/evening crash Adderall does. BUT, beware that months into taking it, you can hit a plateau and start feeling stressed and zombified. Luckily, it's not habit-forming so you can just stop taking it, but nothing will compare to how capable this medication will make you afterwards. The key is using it in moderation and taking tolerance breaks."

"Always a total skeptic about meds but.....OH MY GOD!! First-time user of this medication. Took 500 mg dose around 6 hours ago. Have been on a 10/10 rush since then. Unbelievable!!! Feeling basically Top Gun alert, at ninja readiness, shaking slightly in anticipation. Very similar experience to having a damn good md-cap....from what I've been told :). Do very long work shifts 16-17 hours and this seems unbelievable. To feel this good at the conclusion of such a shift is total madness. I think the potential for abuse of this medication must be astronomical. I note it does apparently have some moderate dopaminergic effects and I can certainly feel this to some extent."

"The only thing that works for my depression. Way too expensive, not covered by insurance."

Armodafinil "I had been on Modafinil for over a year when I noticed the effects reducing dramatically, so my doctor switched me to Armodafinil. Almost immediately after taking it, I felt very hostile and aggressive. I did not feel more refreshed or awake. I tried it for almost a week, and the feeling of anger was still there, so I quit taking it and am working with my doctors to find another solution."
