For High Cholesterol "Fifteen years ago I had two stents as I was suffering from blocked arteries and terrible angina. I was only 43 years old. I took statins for years, as much as my body could stand, as I suffered from insane muscle pain to the point where I could hardly walk. Because of this, my statin use dwindled to once or twice a week. Five years ago, with my cholesterol high again, I had a minor heart attack. I was then given Praluent, and my gosh, what a savior! Cholesterol levels down to recommended levels and no side effects. I would probably say, without exaggeration, that this drug saved me!"

For High Cholesterol "After having a heart attack 2 years ago my cardio doctor put me on Praluent painless injections every two weeks in my legs along with daily 20 mg Atorvastatin (Lipitor). Together they both have lowered my bad LDL from 250 down to 25. I'm a 73 year old man. I'm very happy with the results. I don't notice any side effects. I'm also happy my Mutual of Omaha drug plan Plus which covers most of the cost 2020/2021. I'm waiting for the FDA to approve Inclisiran twice a year injections which will be much more cheaper."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Took Repatha for over a year had minor side effects (runny nose only) which eventually disappeared then my insurance changed formularies and had to switch to Praluent not at all happy. Have been taking for two months side effects include constant runny nose fatigue bruising muscle pain and pain and itching at injection site. Would not recommend this medication Repatha in my opinion is much better unfortunately for myself insurance will absolutely not cover Repatha."

For High Cholesterol "I've been taking Praluent 75 for 2 months now and report no side effects. I take ibupropen before the injection so I don't feel the small bee sting feeling in my leg. I am 70 yrs old and hope to take the injection forever to prevent another heart attack and a $55,000 bill for 2 days in the hospital. 10-10-2018. Express Scripts just sent me a letter approving my prescription."

For High Cholesterol "46 year old UK male; slim, above average fitness, eats well. Tried 3 different statins with same intolerable brain fog, muscle pains and palpitations over a 3 year period. 1st injection: mild muscle pains in my back, cold legs and feet, morning glory, a little brain fog, looser stools. 2nd injection: similar effects to the 1st but 50% less strong, except the morning glory and looser stools. 3rd injection: mild brain fog for an hour (starting about 2 hours after taking), cold feet, looser stools still. Not had bloods tested yet, but if LDL comes down I'd be very happy to stay on Praluent based on these minor side effects. Very hopeful about this convenient statin alternative."

For High Cholesterol "I found Praluent fairly easy to use however I experienced very little reduction in my levels. What I did experience was inflammation of two pre-existing weaknesses in my body - both my feet, and my right elbow. Neither of these things caused me great discomfort prior to Praluent but left me almost unable to walk and performing normal activities with my right arm was excruciatingly painful. I could no longer safely lift things like a kettle, or whipper snip, trim hedges, etc. - things I’d always easily managed. It took me a few weeks to connect the onset of this pain with Praluent but it reduced considerably after I stopped using the product. I will always have these weaknesses in my body but the inflammation caused by this medication is not something I am prepared to put up with for the rest of my life."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I used this drug for over a year with good results for my cholesterol, but then developed an allergic reaction to it. The first time it occurred it was bad, but I mistook it for indigestion. The following dose there was no doubt. A few hours after taking the shot I became very nauseous. Had diarrhea, reflux vomiting and bad pain in my stomach and pancreas. Did not take it again."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I have been on Praulent for one month and love the results. My LDL is down to 36! I have no side effects except a runny nose. My problem is that it is very difficult to press the injector. I need my husband to press it with all his might. Does anyone have that problem?"

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "HORRIBLE BREAKOUT I have heart disease and cholesterol of 151 - every statin has horrible side effects on me so cardiologist wanted me on Rapatha but insurance would only over Paluent. I've tried 4x now to go along with cholesterol meds and this did it in for me. I injected in my right thigh about 9pm, woke up at midnight with stomach pain so severe I thought about the hospital- it finally subsided. 2 hours later I awoke to a horrible itching on my right calf and turning the lights on looked like a horrible bite or infection. By the next morning my left leg broke out in a severe dark purple bubbled rash all over. Then my torso broke out with shingles. Multiple visits to my GP and dermatologist and all concur this was absolutely the Praluent. Looking online, rashes and shingles can be side effects. My dermatologist said it made me break out in eczema, psoriasis and shingles at the same time. Im on high doses of Prendisone and topical heavy duty steroids and an anti-viral."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I am a 63 yr old female. I have cholesterol problems ... my cholesterol has gone as high as 700. I had triple bypass in 2008 & 3 stints 2017. I’m on my 6th injection of Praluent 75mg. I requested this dose over the 150mg to start as I’m hypersensitive to everything. I hope to eventually titrate up to the 150mg dose. I started feeling extreme fatigue & weakness after the 4th dose. Rather than discontinue, I’m experimenting with oral liquid minerals & another product I accidentally stumbled across that supposedly helps to stabilize blood sugar. I’m doing much better. However, swimming at the gym absolutely finishes me for the day. I have no stamina after the swim. Follow up blood test is in September. I cannot report, yet, the results of praluent on my cholesterol levels."

For High Cholesterol "I cannot take statins because of the pain they cause in my joints so I gave this a try. I am a female aged 65 yo and I had a heart attack 3 years ago. I have one stent but have other calcified vessels and my cholesterol is high so don’t have a lot of options I’m told by my Cardiologist. I had the worst reaction I’ve ever had to any medication after injecting 75mg of Praluent. Firstly I had a nosebleed and then I had extreme nausea and was throwing up most of the night. I also had a migraine headache that started behind my right eye and lasted for a few days (for which Tylenol 1000mg didn’t help at all!) My BP also went up to 188/100! It has been 11 days since I took that shot and today I have extreme lower back pain as well as lingering dizziness and nausea. I’m supposed to take the second shot 3 days from now. I emailed my Cardiologist with this information but he thinks that’s unusual and that I should go ahead with it."

For High Cholesterol "This stuff rocks! Melted my impossible cholesterol down -200 points after being on maximum statins. I could not get below 300. I’m now bouncing around under 100 every test. I did have to get 3 stents so this does not stop blockages but this is just my body. I have hyperlipidemia and Diabetes at 59."

For High Cholesterol "I've been taking Praluent 75mg for 9 months. I had experienced serious back pain after the 2nd shot for at least a week. After that, there were no side effects. Most importantly, this drug lowered my blood pressure, so I didn't need to take additional medication I had been on for years! LDL showed 100 less after 2 months on it. Recently, I had to switch to Repatha due to the fact that my insurance no longer supports Praluent. I have plenty of side effects and needed to take blood pressure medication as well. Praluent is way better, even though they are saying it's the same agent."

For High Cholesterol "I'm a 73 year old man and I've been doing the 75mg Praluent injections now for almost 4 years with no side effects. My LDL that I get tested every 6 months is is a very low 24 thanks to Praluent. When I had my heart attack 5 years ago my LDL was a very high 250. I'm happy that my CVS Silverscript Plus pays for most of the cost. I also take 20 mg Atorvastatin daily. The painless Praluent auto injector takes about 5 seconds to inject after warming it up and pushing the auto injector button. The only thing I don't like is the high cost and having to keep the Praluent refrigerated before use. For me there is no pain or bleeding at the injection site which is my leg."

For High Cholesterol "I've been taking Praluent for 5 years and have had NO side effects that I could link to Praluent, UNTIL NOW. I also have Sjogren's Syndrome, which is an autoimmune condition. My liver enzymes have been elevated. My liver doctor diagnosed me with Primary Billary Cholengitis, but from taking a fibro scan, my liver shows to be completely healthy. The doctor says the autoimmune condition is migrating to another organ, my liver. But after looking at the side effect info on Praluent, I find there is a rare but severe side effect of elevated liver enzymes. The other more common side effect that I have is a cold. (I never made the connection to Praluent.) I've had a cold since June 2022, an entire year. I've also had a runny nose for 5 years since I began taking Praluent. I'm writing this review because I think anybody on Praluent should have their liver values checked. No symptoms exist, so you'd never know your liver was in trouble. It did bring down my cholesterol."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Age 57. It has lower my LDL to 62. At age 49 I had a bypass 10 years later a stent and then had procedure to kill some of my extra heart beats. I have been taking it for over a year now and my skin feels like a bad sunburn, my throat closes off when drinking and eating now and then. My sex drive is about gone for me. When I go to sleep I start coughing for about 10 minutes then stops Throat gets dry sometimes then coughing and mucus starts running down throat."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Homozygous "The medication is being taken in addition to statins. I have never had issues with my Crestor or Zocor, but my numbers were not low enough. The medication with the statin has brought my total cholesterol to 142 and L DL down considerably. I have noticed worsening vision, joint pain in my hips and knees and a strange hoarse voice. I cannot say that the Prauluent is the cause, but I am having these investigated. The onset of symptoms seems to align with the new medication, but it also aligns with being 50 ish and maybe everyone feels like rubbish at this age."

For High Cholesterol "Miracle drug for me! I am 26 and had very high cholesterol (309mg/dl total cholesterol). My cardiologist did not want me to go on statins so instead prescribed this drug. I was prescribed it in November and have been giving myself 2 monthly doses since then. I just got my blood work back and my total cholesterol was 180 and my HDLs were up and LDLs were down. I give myself the injection in my thigh and have no issues. Slight soreness at injection site but that is it."

For High Cholesterol "Fatigue, lethargy, developed varicose veins in both inner thighs best described as parallel mirror twins. The breaks were discovered during a routine annual screening by my surgeon. The tears were serious. My doctor was concerned because previous procedures on legs were minor. My cholesterol was reduced by one hundred points. My memory improved... recall... somewhat. The medicine is brutal and fatiguing. Didn't realize how draining it was until it was interrupted. My energy returned. My dosage was 150 ml injection twice monthly."

For High Cholesterol "A female, 60+, I started Praluent injections (150 mg twice a month) in December 2020. At that time, I had a history of normal blood pressure. After 2 months on Praluent my LDL dropped to 33, however, I began getting rashes, hip and back pain, my feet felt numb and tingly, and my blood pressure increased. I asked my doctor to reduce the dose to 75 mg twice a month. I now have been on it for almost 8 months and my blood pressure has steadily increased. I am now on BP medication for hypertension. This drug is outstanding for reducing familial high cholesterol but, in my case, the side effects frighten me. I will stick with a statin."
