Trulicity - Egg burps, gas stomach, pain and diahrerea?

My spouse has been on trulicity for about 6 months now, and absolutely has the burping/heartburn issue. Zofran did not help. His doctor didn't seem to think there was anything else to do--just deal with it or change meds. THe trulicity has been AMAZING for him otherwise (reduced insulin by 10 units/meal; reduced long active insulin by >50%, down 40lbs, hypertension improved to the point one medication reduced, etc).
Has anyone been offered any actual assistance with these side effects? I see some people got relief with baking soda water, gas-x/simethicone, and/or probiotics. Have any MDs or Pharmacists offered solid suggestions? Have any studies been done specifically to address the treatment of the side effects?

I started this beginning of October first two shots were fine just a little nausea loss of appetite. The third shot wow 24 hrs later terrible vomiting and then diarrhoea was so bad for three days, so I didn’t lake the next one left a week to get my body back to normal, took one a couple of days ago and 24hrs got eggy bumps and smelly farts, is it worth it I ask myself

Started Trulicity 9/10/2022 Today 9/11/2022 I’m having diarrhea, stomach pains, egg/sulfur burps on the .75 injection dose. No appetite. My husband made me eat bc I’m taking other meds n it wasn’t much but I feel like crap…..I don’t want to eat anymore EVER

Today I took my second injection. I have ALOT of gas going out of both directions that smell like a pogey plant. Horrible indigestion with mild heartburn. No diarrhea or abdominal pain, but am constipated. My vision gets blurry at times, but normalizes once I use my fast acting insulin. I check my levels, and my sugar would be around 150. It all depends what you eat/drink. Count carb intake, eliminate ALL sugars possible. Eat more greens and lean beef.

I was put on Trulicity and after I did my last dose (4) my diarrhea and stomach pain started going really bad. I broke out in hives. I've never had hives before and I don't like them. The symptoms for using this drug is exactly these things. My doctor took me off of this drug but it's taking a while for it to flush out of my system. This drug is hell on your system. I also felt really light headed, when I was standing to even get to the bathroom it was like I would almost fall down because I was so light headed. I am officially allergic to Trulicity.

I have been on Trulicity since November of last year. I started off on the .75mg dosage and now I am on the 1.5mg dosage. I have had problems with sulfur burps, diarrhea, gas pains and hemorrhoids since starting the medication. The hemorrhoids are from the diarrhea and bouts of constipation I get. I have found I cannot eat chicken, asparagus, brussel sprouts, green beans or any food with a higher sulfur content or I am screwed. I drink pepto like it is water. I have contacted my doctor to find out if there is anything that can be done for these side effects. Oh, and I also break out in giant welts at my injection site!

I do agree, the sulfur (egg) burbs are very bad. I agree drinking baking soda water helps. I have found if I overeat even in the slightest, I have stomach pain and nausea. Also, if I eat greasy foods. This medication is almost like having weight lose surgery without having it. Eating smaller meals help a lot. As long as you eat healthy and stay away from grease and excess sugar, and do not overeat, the side effects are very manageable.

By Wednesday night I was sick
Almost a week later and I'm still sick
Nausea, egg burps, stomach hurts,
Feel awful!!! Let's just say I wont take this medicine again! This is absolutely horrible! How can they expect ppl to function like this! Hopefully this goes away soon.. dont know how much more I can take
My primary doctor put me on zofran and it really dont help! Just my luck!

Yes. I just increased the dose and started with these symptoms. Is there any solution?

I started 3 days ago & I have the egg burping also & a little diarrhea. I also had a kidney transplant 4 years ago so I hope this is all the side effects. What can we do for the burping?

One thing I’ve tried that seems to limit the negative side effects is probiotics. I figured if the gas smell is coming from incomplete digestion, why not throw more bacteria at the situation? Sort of like adding Riddex to a septic system… Not the complete solution but it helps…

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I took it at night and the next day I would be sick all day. By the 3rd shot it went away. They just upped the dose and it has happened again. Do you by chance have IBS?

I tried it for 6 months to give it an honest try, after all the same symptoms as you plus vomiting. My stomach is still not the same. It's been one year since I started the 6 months

I started Trulicity 7 weeks ago. No problems first two weeks but each week since, horrible egg burps, hiccups, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Every week. No appetite, either. Lost 17 lbs so far, (which I need to do).
