Has anyone experienced rapid weight gain on Linzess?

yes i have gained weight on linzess. I started the med. 3 month ago for IBS\C, it worked great, but with much diahrrea. That i could take, but it started not to work. My Dr. changed the doesage from 145CG to 290CG within eight days i have gained 8 lbs. I lost weight on the 145CG, only started gaining on the 290CG. .. off now for a week and still gaining weight. what is everyone doing to loose the weight? My diet has not changed. I also have fluid retention in ankles, and hands. I am off linzess, never again. I will go back to MiraLax. Please answer someone.

I also gained weight rather quickly. I have now switched back to Amitiza BUT I also have to use Miralax once a week and drink mineral oil 1-2 times a week. With Linzess I had so much bloating and oh my gosh when I did go, diarrhea and sometimes accidents while I slept. I will never take this again.

I have been taken Linzess (low dose) since August 2016 and I have done nothing but lose weight. I have lost over ten lbs so far and using the bathroom at least 3 times per week were before I was not doing anything at all. After reading so many bad responses about Linzess I do believe it depends on the person. Not every body responds the same way. I have weighed from the beginning of this year 228 lbs and now weigh 204 lbs standing at 5 feet.

I have. I started the medication at a higher dose than normal but found in doing so, I cannot be far from the bathroom!! This cleaning out the pipes takes 5-6 hrs of time and so my social life took a hit. My GI doc said to open the capsule, dump all powder in palm of hand, refill only 1/2 the amount. It seems to be working. But my gaining 35 lbs was not part of the plan. Don't know what else I can do! Any ideas???

Yes i have ive had 5 surgeries each one was suppose to had stopped this pain this severe ibs shuts me down stomach swells up and will last 7-9hours will wake me up out of a sound sleep eat dont eat I gain weight sometimes I rather be dead then live with this for the rest of my life since im told there's no cure if there's a lawsuit against ibs sign me up PLEASE.

I have been on this med for a couple of months and have gained 12 lbs. my stomach is so distended that I look about 6 months preg & I am MISERABLE! I feel like I'm going to literally explode. I've had the worst stomach pain I've ever experienced. I am stopping the med and praying all the other symptoms subside. Has anyone had any success losing after gaining all this weight? I've also had my calves swelling as well as my hands.

Oh my gosh, I am so glad I found this thread. I went on linzess close to 2 years ago, gained weight, then early last year was concerned about my weight gain so my family Dr gave me some diet pills that worked and I got the weight back off for my daughters wedding. After I stopped taking the diet pills the weight has crept back on. For 2 months now I have cut my food intake big time. I have been doing slim fast for breakfast and lunch and eating not that much for dinner but nothing is working. The weight keeps creeping up. I can't stand this, I have never had such a weight problem. I will call my Dr. and try to figure something out from here now. My ankles have been swelling big time. I guess this is why.

OMG, I've been on this drug for about 6 months and I've gained sooo much weight that I can't seem to loose for anything!! Soo glad I saw this - I'm stopping this TODAY!!! Going back to Amatiza. Thanks everyone!

yes! I gained between 15-20 pounds while on Linzess over the course of about a year and a half. While on it we had to "play around" with the dose. Sometimes more, sometimes less to try to get to one that worked best. Some days I couldn't stop going, others not at all. Eventually, the past month I barely went at all. I was back to square one. I've stopped taking it and am trying a more natural remedy with better success and no cramps. I'm just starting, so we'll see how that continues. I was disappointed as I had high hopes for Linzess. I'm hoping the stomach distention and weight gain subsides. Crossing my fingers.

I gained 6-8 pounds on linzess and checked everything from thyroid to hormones and it had to be the linzess. I'll been off it for months but cannot lose the weight. None of my clothes fit but I also have bad swelling in my calves that won't go away. Had MRI of my knee and ultrasounds for blood clots and can't get an answer to the daily pain and swelling. Has anyone else experienced swelling and pain in their calves?

Yes, I gained weight very quickly and it was hard to get it off. I now take Amitiza twice a day and every 3 days drink a good dose of miralax. If that combo doesn't work then I help it out with mineral oil. Working good for me.

Yes. The weight gain in my case is due to fluid retention (edema) in my feet, ankles and lower legs. I've been on Linzess for 3 months. In my case, the edema began 3 to 4 weeks after starting the medication. Have seen my internist and urologist to eliminate other possible causes and today will see my cardiologist. SO, I don't know for sure if the weight gain is a side effect of Linzess--

I have been on it for several months and I have put on 25!!! I'm calling my enterologist and complaining!! Plus... I don't think it is helping with my original problem!! So not worth it to me!!

I have been on Linzess 290 mcg for 3 weeks and I have gained 12 lbs. I have not changed my eating habits so I believe it has to be the medication.

Not every experiences weight gain. I am on the high dosage and after 1-2 months I have lost 10-15 lbs. this has Beene miracle drug for me. I have side effects on occasion like lose stool & stomach pain. Over all it's helped me more than anythinng I've ever tried. My issue began shortly after a surgery I gained weight and no matter what I tried nothing would work in getting the weight off. Only lost around 5 lbs working out more often. I have more gas than I did which is bad because I had a lot before. This medicine has helped me so much. I guess it just depends on the person
