Can I take Addyi while drinking alcohol?

Official Answer by Drugs.com 8 Sep 2015

No. You cannot drink any form of alcohol while you are taking Addyi. There is a risk of severe low blood pressure and fainting (loss of consciousness) if you drink alcohol while taking Addyi. Addyi comes with a Boxed Warning to highlight these risks.

Because of this potentially serious interaction with alcohol, treatment with Addyi is only available through doctors and pharmacists who are certified with the Addyi REMS program. Your doctor will need to assess the likelihood of you reliably abstaining from alcohol before prescribing Addyi. You will need to tell your doctor how often you drink alcohol and if you have ever had a history of alcohol abuse. Your pharmacist will also warn you of the risks of drinking alcohol during treatment with Addyi when you have your prescription dispensed.

The FDA is aware that the interaction between Addyi and alcohol is not completely understood, and is requiring the company that owns Addyi to undertake further studies.
