Tetanus Toxoid (Canada)

This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy horses against tetanus. Duration of immunity has not been established. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data, go to productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

Directions For Use

Shake well. Healthy horses should receive two 1-mL doses administered intramuscularly 4-8 weeks apart. Smaller horses (such as Shetland ponies or miniature breeds) should receive two 0.5-mL doses administered 4-8 weeks apart. Protective tetanus antibody titers usually occur two weeks after the second injection of the initial series. In the event of injury during the course of the initial vaccination program, a prophylactic dose of at least 1500 units of tetanus antitoxin should be given. For advice on revaccination, contact your veterinarian or the manufacturer.

Safety: This product is safe for use as a single dose during the third trimester of pregnancy.

Precautions

Store at 2°-8°C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures and/or direct sunlight may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze. Use entire contents when first opened. Transient local reactions may occur at the injection site. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. Contains formalin, thimerosal, neomycin and polymyxin B as preservatives. Do not mix with other products. In case of human exposure, contact a physician.
