CON-GLU-MSM-P Powder (Canada)
This treatment applies to the following species:CHONDROITIN SULFATE, GLUCOSAMINE HCL, MSM POWDER
Description
Chondroitin Sulfates act like “liquid magnets”. It helps attract fluid into the proteoglycan molecules. This is important for two reasons; the fluid sweeps nutrients into the cartilage and the fluid acts as a spongy shock absorber.
Chondroitin can protect existing cartilage from a premature breakdown. It does this by inhibiting certain enzymes that destroy cartilage and enzymes that prevent the transport of nutrients.
Chondroitin Sulfates alone have been found to be effective for osteoarthritis sufferers. Often just the glucosamine or chondroitin are used by themselves. However they can work synergistically when taken together to stimulate cartilage production and to help control enzymes that destroy the cartilage. Using both of these supplements can help the body heal itself. A glucosamine and chondroitin combination is a powerful weapon against osteoarthritis.
Glucosamine HCL is the most versatile and bio-available amino sugar that the body converts into essential biomolecules. Glucosamine is often called “cellular glue”. It is the main building block for semi-fluids that lubricate joints and fill their cushioning sacks (bursa). It also forms the core of skeletal bone and of cell recognition molecules. Recognition molecules are used by the body’s defense systems to distinguish its own cells from other substances.
There are different forms of glucosamine N-acetyl-glucosamine (commonly referred to as NAG). It is possible that NAG does not penetrate the cell membranes and, as a result, it is not available for incorporation into the building blocks of cartilage to form
Glucosamine Sulfate and Glucosamine Hydrochloride
Functionality - Both dissolve (ionize) completely in the stomach making all of the glucosamine present and available for absorption. Once absorbed into the blood stream, the glucosamine is available to the body.
Purity - Glucosamine Hydrochloride is highly stable and manufactured to a purity of over 99%. On the other hand, the sulfate is only 74% pure as it must be stabilized with approximately 26% sodium (or potassium) chloride to prevent it from losing its effectiveness.
Bio-active Glucosamine - The neutral aminosugar, glucosamine, is the real bio-active material that acts as the precursor to the body’s synthesis of glycoaminoglycans, hyaluronate, proteoglycans, and collagen - all necessary components to repair healthy cartilage and joint function. Based on the aforementioned purity and the relative molecular weights of glucosamine and each of its salts, simple math shows that Glucosamine Hydrochloride delivers 81.3% active glucosamine while sulfate supplies a meager 47.8%.
MSM (Methyl-sulfonyl-methane) fortifies and protects cell membranes.
