Along with its needed effects, ivermectin topical (the active ingredient contained in Soolantra) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Rare
- Burning, itching, redness, or stinging of the skin
- burning, dry, or itching eyes
- dandruff
- discharge or excessive tearing
- dry skin
- redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid

The most frequently reported side effects included skin burning sensation, skin irritation, pruritus, and dry skin, occurring in 1% or less of patients.[Ref]

Common (1% to 10%): Burning sensation
Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Skin irritation, pruritus, dry skin
Frequency not reported: Erythema, contact dermatitis, dandruff[Ref]
Musculoskeletal
Common (1% to 10%): Muscle strain, back pain[Ref]
Nervous system
Common (1% to 10%): Headache
Respiratory
Common (1% to 10%): Nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis[Ref]

Ocular
