Precautions

If your skin problem does not improve within 2 weeks, or if it becomes worse, check with your doctor.

Check with your doctor right away if you have a skin rash, blistering, burning, stinging, swelling, or irritation on the skin.

Serious side effects of butenafine topical

Along with its needed effects, butenafine topical may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

  • blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin where the medicine is applied
  • itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin where the medicine is applied

General adverse events

This drug was generally well tolerated. About 1% of patients reported skin-related side effects at the site of application. In controlled clinical trials, no patients withdrew from therapy due to side effects.[Ref]
