Medically reviewed by Drugs.com. Last updated on Aug 5, 2024.
Palynziq (pegvaliase-pqpz) is used to reduce blood Phe levels in patients with phenylketonuria (PKU) who are having an inadequate response to their current treatment.
Palynziq is a phenylalanine (Phe) metabolizing enzyme given as a subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. Patients with PKU are born with an inability to break down the amino acid phenylalanine found in certain foods and sweeteners. If untreated, PKU can result in long-term intellectual, neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disabilities.
