Mitotane may cause sedation, drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired driving ability. The risk and/or severity may be increased when combined with alcohol or other medications that can also cause sedation. Let your doctor know prior to receiving mitotane if you are currently using alcohol or receiving treatment with DULoxetine, as you may be more likely to experience sedation-related side effects. Do not drive, operate machinery, or engage in potentially hazardous activities requiring mental alertness and motor coordination until the sedative effects have gone away and you know how these medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

High fat food significantly enhances the absorption of mitotane. You should take each dose of mitotane with a full meal containing high fat (e.G., containing milk, chocolate, or oil) and with a full glass of water. Taking mitotane on an empty stomach may lead to inadequate blood levels and reduced effectiveness of the medication. Talk to your doctor if you have questions or have difficulty taking mitotane with food. It is best to avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol, as it can increase drowsiness or other nervous system side effects of mitotane. You should also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. DULoxetine may cause liver damage, and taking it with alcohol may increase that risk. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with DULoxetine. Call your doctor immediately if you have fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, excessive tiredness or weakness, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash or itching, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dark colored urine, or yellowing of the skin or the whites of your eyes, as these may be symptoms of liver damage. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
