4 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- cholestyramine
- conjugated estrogens / meprobamate
Interactions between your drugs
cholestyramine conjugated estrogens
Applies to: cholestyramine, conjugated estrogens / meprobamate
Cholestyramine may interfere with the absorption of conjugated estrogens when these medications are taken at the same time. This may reduce the blood levels and effects of conjugated estrogens. To prevent or minimize the interaction, conjugated estrogens should be taken at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after the cholestyramine dose. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or your symptoms worsen during treatment with these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
meprobamate food
Applies to: conjugated estrogens / meprobamate
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of meprobamate such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with meprobamate. Do not use more than the recommended dose of meprobamate, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.

Applies to: cholestyramine
Cholestyramine may interfere with the absorption of certain vitamins such as A, D, E and K. Therefore, it is recommended that you take multivitamin with minerals at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after cholestyramine to minimize the risk of interaction. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take these or other medications you are prescribed.
