Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Emblaveo (avibactam / aztreonam)
- probenecid
Interactions between your drugs
probenecid avibactam
Applies to: probenecid, Emblaveo (avibactam / aztreonam)
GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with probenecid may increase the plasma concentrations of avibactam. The proposed mechanism is probenecid inhibition of OAT1 and OAT3 transporters, which may contribute to the active uptake of avibactam from the blood compartment for excretion. In vitro, probenecid has been reported to inhibit OAT uptake of avibactam by 56% to 70%. Therefore, probenecid has the potential to decrease the elimination of avibactam during coadministration.
MANAGEMENT: Due to a lack of clinical data, concomitant use of avibactam with probenecid is not recommended.

probenecid aztreonam
Applies to: probenecid, Emblaveo (avibactam / aztreonam)
Coadministration of probenecid or furosemide with aztreonam results in clinically insignificant increases in aztreonam's systemic exposure. The proposed mechanism relates to inhibition of organic anion transporters 1 and 3 (OAT1, OAT3) by probenecid and furosemide, which may contribute to the active uptake of aztreonam from the blood compartment for excretion. The manufacturer does not recommend additional monitoring.

Therapeutic duplication warnings
No duplication warnings were found for your selected drugs.
Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
Drug Interaction Classification
Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
