Comments:
- Multidose use is not recommended due to excessive cathartic action

12 years and older and 32 kg or more: Single dose: 50 to 100 grams activated charcoal orally
1 to under 12 years and older and 16 kg or more: Single dose: 15 to 30 grams activated charcoal orally

Precautions

- If possible call a poison control center, emergency medical facility, or health professional for help before using this product; if help cannot be reached quickly, follow directions on the label.
- Read the warnings and directions as soon as this product is purchased.
- Insert emergency phone number(s) in space provided on the label.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
- There are no known contraindications, however it is not equally effective for all toxins
- Use with caution, if at all, if corrosive agents are ingested as the activated charcoal may obscure esophageal and gastric lesions caused by the corrosive.
- Use is not advised in significant fluid or electrolyte abnormalities
- Do not use in young infants due to the possibility of excessive catharsis
- Young children should not receive cathartic doses of sorbitol unless hospitalized and under the immediate care of a physician.
Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients younger than 1 year; this drug is not recommended for use in these patients.
