"I had problems with sleep, anxiety, and some more things for a long time. I've tried melatonin, but it didn't help me. Then I've tried L-tryptophan, and I've noticed changes on the first night and so on. I'm using it for almost 3 months (not every day) before going to sleep, and I feel much better now. I got 700mg tablets, works really well with me. Be careful about interactions with other pills."

"After trying several SSRI drugs for my low to moderate anxiety and depression, I finally tried Tryptophan. I started with 250 mg, a very low dose. IMHO, I think that many people start most drugs and alternative 'remedies' at WAY too high a dosage, especially SSRIs, statins, and tranqs. I slept well the first night and woke feeling rested and without the 'cloud' of low-level anxiety and depression. I do NOT believe this was a 'placebo' effect. I increased to 500 mg and slept and felt even better! I will stay at this dosage. Those with much more serious anxiety/depression may do better on a higher dose, but I strongly recommend moving up incrementally. I am still looking into what would be the best schedule for this, daily an hour before bedtime, or every other day, but this, for me, is a BIG winner!"
