For Urinary Tract Infection "Asked to be prescribed this because I was prescribed it a year and a half ago for a UTI and did not have any side effects. This time around, where I am only on day two and the symptoms of the UTI have, for the most part, cleared, I have experienced debilitating headaches, constant fatigue, and had some anxiety yesterday morning. Luckily, I have become better with reducing my anxiety, but it does not matter how much water or food I intake, the headaches are just lingering and hover only on one side of my head over my eye. I also experienced a period of nausea so far. I am supposed to be on this for another five days and am hoping I will only need to be on for another few instead. I don't think I can complete the prescription with the borderline migraines I have been getting."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Awful!! Had a 5-day/10-pill prescription of Bactrim for a UTI. Just thought I was lethargic the first day, but later that night my hands were shaking, heart beating fast, which induced a full anxiety attack. Kept taking the pills. Fast forward to day 4 and my head was so foggy I felt like I was a walking zombie, and the shakes got so bad I had to go to urgent care. No appetite whatsoever. Cleared up the UTI but avoid at all costs!!"

For Bacterial Infection "Bactrim DS was a nightmare. First, there was violent panic and anxiety. I had to stop it because it was so horrific. Now, the next day, I feel like I'm in a coma. It's terrifying, I actually feel like I'm actively dying. Is this still the drug or the original infection (UTI)? I would prefer death to this."

For Sinusitis "I recently took Bactrim for a sinus infection. My first day of taking the Bactrim, I got nervous and my hands started to itch, I couldn't sit still. I broke out in a red rash on my shoulder and left hand, and my feet are red on both sides. But I had previously taken Bactrim before over the years with no problems. This time, I was shocked because I had taken it before. So I went to the urgent care, and they told me not to take it anymore. So I am throwing the cheap in the trash. And I just hope that my sinus will heal on its own."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This stuff is nightmare fuel. I’m on the third day, my UTI is still lingering, and I feel worse than I’ve felt in a long time. Constant headache, weak, shaky, anxious, dizzy, itchy??? And the diarrhea is just a fun little bonus. I would say if you’re highly sensitive to medications like I am, and you’re taking this stuff for a UTI, go and get a urine test to make sure Bactrim is the right stuff for you. Do not take this unless it’s your only option. I’m sure for those with sturdier constitutions this stuff is fine, but I’m not one of those people, and I feel horrible."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed this for my UTI, which was moderate (>100,000 CFU/ML R. Coli). I have had mild to moderate generalized anxiety disorder since I was 19 years old and have kept it pretty controlled, and then I took this medication. I agree, my anxiety was very heightened: jittery, heart pounding, hot, even though I had my air conditioner on high and did not feel like this prior to being on the medication. I’m on day three of seven, and according to the literature, three days should be sufficient, so guess what, this is my last day. My infection is much, much better, so I know the drug is doing its job very well. If you have any type of generalized anxiety disorder, even if it is managed, I would not recommend Bactrim. Being a nurse, I am not one to start medications at all, but this one is just too much. I get in front of people and give presentations on a daily basis, and there is no way I’m going to be able to get up and do my job without having a panic attack while on this med."

For Urinary Tract Infection "So this is for all the people with terrible anxiety like me. Don't read the reviews to freak out. If you NEED to read them to prepare yourself, do it. So I got prescribed these for a UTI, 2 tablets a day for 7 days. Perfect, fine. Took about 3 days to start working, and now I feel generally okay, sorta burns in the morning, but it's whatever. Well, the only side effects that are noticeable are terrible indigestion that Tums don’t help, some light nausea (subsided with a probiotic), and anxiety. I generally have situational anxiety, so I was shocked as to why I was having daily panic attacks and overwhelming anxiety almost all day long until I realized it was certainly Bactrim. Macrobid gave me awful migraines, so this is a step in the better direction. Take it, some side effects are better than a kidney infection! Just make sure your doctor does a culture and a drug resistance test on your urine so it works!"

For Bronchitis "Bactrim seems to help, only bad part is it makes my heart race and my anxiety get the best of me. So, to avoid that feeling, I take half of a 2 mg Xanax bar to help not be anxious."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I took a form of this medication a couple of years ago (Septra, which has the same ingredients), and it cleared up my UTI, although I thought it was a little slow to fully work. So when I got a UTI about a week ago suddenly, I asked my doc to prescribe it for me again, only this time it was Bactrim. I'm funny with antibiotics, I don't like taking them, and I have a very sensitive stomach, so I like to stick with what works. Took it again this time and noticed my symptoms improved, then got bad again. I had two side effects this time: loss of appetite and jittery feeling. I went back to my doc, and my urine sample still showed white blood cells, so they sent my sample out to be cultured for a better prescription. It helped but didn't cure it."
