"On November 3rd, 2017, I had cancer surgery. My cancer was stage 2b. I started chemo in December of that year. I began to have problems with my feet in June of 2018. On February 12th, 2021, they finally told me they couldn't do anything for me, and I have a strong case for disability. I had no idea this drug was going to do this to me. I only took 3 rounds of it. I struggle to walk. I understand it takes strong drugs to fight cancer, but had I known I would end up disabled, I would've said no to this one. Doctors will not tell you how bad it can be. They just told me it affects people differently and that I may not experience any side effects. This drug may be good at fighting cancer, but it will damage your nerves."

"After four years, severe and chronic peripheral neuropathy persists, particularly in the feet and would seem permanent. I was completely unaware before and when having treatment that this condition could happen post ceasing course of treatment. Unfortunately, some days walking becomes extremely painful and is a huge struggle."

"I had stage 2 colon cancer with golf ball cancer and micro-invasion of the colon wall. Lymph nodes negative. Given 5-FU and oxaliplatin. Told the entire time creatinine and bilirubin good - looking back now 2.5 years later, I have stage 3 kidney disease. No one ever mentioned GFR. If no one says anything about it to you, make sure you ask. I have yet to determine if my GFR was low prior to chemo, or what decision I would have made about oxaliplatin, but I should have been informed. When asked, physician I was always told - it is all good. Had neuropathy too, but that's okay. I am still cancer-free and praise God."

"This is an extremely potent medication when used in combination with 5-Fluorouracil. My mum had stage IV colorectal cancer, which has metastasized into the soft tissue of the lower abdomen, causing ugly skin lesions on the abdomen. After just three cycles of oxaliplatin and 5-FU, the lesions completely healed, and mum had a substantial reduction in the tumor size and progression rate. The problem with the treatment is the severe side effects, mainly reduced white blood count."
