"I also have noticed nausea after taking the AREDS pill, especially on an empty stomach. One time I made the mistake of taking 2 pills at once and ended up vomiting. I thought I had food poisoning, but looking at the other reviews, I realize it was from taking these 2 pills at one time. My mistake."

"A couple of years ago, my eye doctor said I had age-related macular degeneration. She also said it was familial and I should warn my children. She recommended AREDS 2. I was shocked at the cost, but I had been experiencing periods upon waking when I had big black blotches in front of my eyes, and I was frightened by that. Although the directions said to take 2-one in the morning and one in the evening, I found that taking the medication in the morning made me sick to my stomach, so I simply take one in the evening before bed. I have found that this indeed does keep those black blotches away, and if I run out and don't have any for 3 or 4 days, then the vision problem does come back. Other than the upset stomach, I have not noticed any other ill effects, and I do find it effective."

"My optometrist suggested I take these eye vitamins for AMD that is pretty progressed. I've tried them twice for a year or so the first round and a couple months now. I have finally figured out these are what's making me nauseated and projectile vomit out of nowhere if taken while drinking coffee in the mornings. I also get heartburn which ends up making me projectile vomit out of nowhere if I take the p.m. dose close to bedtime. I started having night sweats and having to wear sunglasses on a cloudy day because of the glare. I'm 65 years old and my mother is 89 and has the exact same side effects from them. I read where the chewable tablets don't have the side effects as the gel cap so I'm going to try them before I give up completely. Stay tuned...."
