For Iron Deficiency Anemia "This medication is terrible! An hour into the infusion, I felt like I was going to pass out. Felt nauseous, flushed face, dizzy, and felt like I had a minute to tell the nurse I was about to pass out. They stopped the infusion. The infusion was 2 weeks ago, and my blood pressure has been around 85/65 ever since. I feel so exhausted and tired. The doctor's clinic is aware and clueless. I refused this med, and because of the clinic's reaction, I lost trust in the practice. Please, if you’re reading, ask for a different infusion."

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "I’m a dialysis patient who is receiving Venofer through injection in treatments. I experience nausea, a vomiting sensation as soon as one drop hits my system. It sends a signal to my smell sensors, which makes me smell old pancake syrup and then begins to turn my stomach into a violent expulsion machine. If this is a side effect that could be harmful, I would like to know what to do."

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "9 a.m. today was my first Venofer IV infusion. I was nervous, but the staff was amazing. Almost immediately, I started getting itchy. My arm was covered in red blotches. The infusion stopped, and IV Benadryl was given. Almost immediately, a sense of relief. Re-hooked up Venofer and had no reaction. I was continuing to drink fluids throughout treatment. Once in the car, I wasn't driving, I grabbed a granola bar and was asleep before I finished it. Got home and slept on the couch. Woke up overheating and sweaty. I feel nauseous, restless, and hungry. This was 1 of 6 doses. Will be one week apart."

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "Venofer for me caused painful spasms and redness of my hands, abdominal cramping, joint pain, and nausea. These symptoms would start within 15 to 30 minutes after the infusion ended without fail. What helped? Running the infusion twice as long, one dose every 1-2 weeks, taking Benadryl, Prednisone, Buscopan, Gravol, and Tylenol as soon as the IV is about to begin, and a follow-up dose of everything 4 to 6 hours later, REST for the rest of the day, and continue to take some Tylenol as needed for the joint pain. I tried Monoferric for the first time most recently and decided to try winging it with only Tylenol at the start of the infusion, which was run for 2 hours. No issues with my hands, did have some mild abdominal cramping and nausea afterward, but it was tolerable for the first day or two afterward. 3 days later, extreme joint pain in my knees and extreme fatigue, well more than the norm anyway. I received 1500 mg."

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "Today I had my first iron infusion, Venofer. 200 mg over 2 hours. Felt good until 4 hours later, I started feeling very cold, with very bad chills. My temp went up to 102.9°F. I went to bed trembling so bad I couldn’t stop shaking for more than 30 minutes. Felt so sick, nauseated, and very hot. Now, after 5 hours, my body temp went down to low 95. Feeling better… Personally, I don’t think I will get another treatment… Those side effects were very traumatic to me… I need to talk to my doctor about other alternatives."
