For Migraine Prevention "I am a 59-year-old male and have been on Ajovy for 6 months now, and here's my experience. It works great for 2 weeks after the injection, then on day 13, 14, or 15, the migraines are back and severe. I have been suffering from severe fatigue and must rest/nap after 9 or 10 hours awake since my 2nd dose of Ajovy. Now at 6 months, I am starting to suffer from vertigo if I stand or move too quickly. Although I have fewer migraine days per month, I am not nearly satisfied with the results and side effects. I will be looking into other options."

For Migraine Prevention "My neurologist started me on this medication. Migraines have stopped thanks to my other meds, but I'm still getting the 'auras' without headache. I took the sample injection yesterday without any issues. I took a shower this morning and instantly got hives all over. I didn't change anything else other than the new medication. This afternoon, I had the worst migraine ever and lost vision for about 2 hours. It finally got better, and I thought everything was over. Tonight, I got out of the car and had a sudden onset of severe dizziness like vertigo. It has been going on for about an hour, which brought me to this site. It has to be side effects of this medication. I will never take it again!"

For Migraine Prevention "I started with Emgality, but had a severe injection site reaction, so neuro switched me to Ajovy. Had a horrific migraine the next morning and all weekend. Have had double the migraines this month, and they last longer and are not as receptive to Maxalt. Increased nausea and dizziness as well. I will not take this ever again."

For Migraine Prevention "Migraines for 6 years intensely, occasional ones before that. Tried everything except the injections. Had my 1st Ajovy beginning of August. No side effects and not a single migraine since. 2nd Ajovy had 48 hours of mild nausea, fatigue and took half a Maxalt. 3rd Ajovy and I'm a mess. Severe nausea, vertigo, fatigue, severe anxiety. Never know when the nausea is going to hit me. I’ve got two new jobs that I’ve had to cancel days already because of the nausea. I’ve got severe constipation too. After thinking I could finally enjoy life again, do things I hadn’t done in years, I even booked an overseas holiday for 2023, I’m now shaking on my couch waiting for the next ondansetron to kick in. I’d rather have the migraines than this, and it makes me panic even more that I have weeks of this left before it’s out of my system. I don’t feel like I have any hope left!"

For Migraine Prevention "I had my first injection on May 1st. Within a few days, I had a terrible migraine. Started having flu-like symptoms, dizziness, and severe depression. Two weeks after the injection, I developed severe, intolerable neck pain that I have never experienced before. I also had more migraines and will not be using Ajovy again. This drug did not help me at all. Glad it works for some people."

For Migraine Prevention "So I’m two months into this medication, and although it’s been great for my migraines, it’s caused me to feel very faint, increased vertigo, and tingling in my face. I ended up in the ER, and everything came out normal, and this has been the only new medication, so I’m going to stop it and see if I feel better. Needless to say, I’m so disappointed and sad."

For Migraine Prevention "I've done 5 months of Ajovy injections, and I'm feeling horrible. This past month, I have had an increase in migraines! My weight continues to go up, and I have uncharacteristic daily bouts of crying. I cry every single day, which is not at all normal for me. I'm dizzy and unsteady from another health condition, however, this feels worse."

For Migraine Prevention "I started taking Ajovy 6 months ago! This drug had reduced my episodes of migraines by 40-50%, and I’m happy with that. However, I have experienced 7 lbs weight gain since I started, as well as chronic nausea, fatigue, vertigo, and now I’m noticing that this medication is acting as a blood thinner. I cut my finger cutting some vegetables, and I started bleeding a lot, which is abnormal for me! I cleaned the cut and applied Neosporin and a Band-Aid and sat down to watch a movie that lasted close to an hour and a half. As I went to the bathroom and washed my hands, I took the Band-Aid off, and immediately I started to bleed a lot again, like if I just got cut. I’m pretty scared and concerned about the side effects of this drug. I wonder about the long-term effects on your overall health."

For Migraine Prevention "I have suffered from migraines for over 20 years, which have been kept under control with the highest dose of propranolol until I hit the dreaded menopause. Since then, my life has been unbearable. I've been put on the highest dose of amitriptyline, and the side effects are horrendous and didn't help migraines. Topiramate's highest dose didn't stop migraines either. Candesartan 20 mg helped a bit, but I still suffered from severe migraines. Now on Candesartan and the first injection of Ajovy. Worst combination. Migraines have increased in severity and frequency, I can't sleep, and electric shock pains in my head and thunderclap pain is 0 to 10. Neck pain, jaw pain, heavy puffy eyes, pressure in the head, dizziness, low mood. The list goes on and on. I'm at my wit's end. My neurologist wants me to take a second dose, however, my GP does not agree. I don't want the second dose, I can't work, can't function, and am in constant pain. No empathy from a neurologist. Seems to think I'm just to get on with it."

For Migraine Prevention "At four weeks after one injection: a reduction of three migraine days (usually approximately 16 days monthly). Vivid dreams; difficulty in falling asleep; extreme, incapacitating dizziness; breakthrough migrainous symptoms (nausea and vertigo) fading then reoccurring within seconds; strangely, no sharp or throbbing half-head pain; word finding/speaking coherently difficult; usual triptan and metoclopramide not as effective."

For Migraine Prevention "I took Ajovy for 2 months. I’ve been suffering from migraines for eight years. This medication gave me progressive dizziness, vertigo, nausea, ringing in my ears, and heightened anxiety, especially at night. I felt very out of control, especially in the 2nd month. The first month was okay. Yes, it did help my migraines to be more mild and manageable, but there’s no way I could live with these side effects. Don’t believe the 'no side effects' from the manufacturer, it's simply untrue. Even Tylenol can have side effects, so this serious medication definitely does."

For Migraine Prevention "I've suffered from migraines for 50 years and have tried most everything out there, including Botox. I started Ajovy 15 months ago, and it worked wonders. On Ajovy, I average 3 migraines a month, which for me is a miracle. After about ten months, I started to get vertigo (which I had checked to rule out any medical causes), and the past two months I've been suffering from bloating and constipation as well - all out of the ordinary. I am going to stop the Ajovy to see if this all clears up. I love not suffering with the migraines for the first time in 50 years, but I need to know for sure if Ajovy is causing what I believe to be these side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "Not a fan of this medicine, Ajovy! It helped my migraines a little at first... but then stopped helping. I also experienced a TON of bad side effects: bad nausea, vertigo, hair loss, and weight gain. I’ve weighed 112 pounds for years, and I now weigh 120 pounds and haven’t changed eating habits or anything. I feel like crying because I’ve gained this weight for no reason, and it won’t go away, but I’m not going to get any more injections, so hopefully my body will go back to normal."

For Migraine Prevention "I had two rounds of Ajovy because I was having constant vestibular migraines. Until I took Ajovy, my symptoms had been unabated for over two months, but they hadn't been particularly painful: severe dizziness, significant cognitive impairment, tinnitus, and discomfort of the eyes. After the first shot, I added regular migraine symptoms to the list: light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, and pain. After the second shot, the symptoms morphed again, and I started having a sensation that is very hard to describe: it was as if my brain was being squeezed from different directions and it was crackling under the pressure. About 8-10 weeks after the last shot, the weird sensation went away, but I still had the mix of vestibular and regular migraines."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Ajovy for about 10 months, with the hope of reducing my dose of Trokendi XR that I take, because I do not like its side effects (loss of word recall). I am also taking candesartan, all for migraines. Without Ajovy, I had averaged 4 migraines a month and another 4 smaller headaches. With Ajovy, I was maybe down to 1 or 2 migraines a month and all small headaches were gone. It seemed to really work great. But I could not reduce the other drugs or things would get worse again. Also, recently, when it gets close to injection time, either a day before or after, I get dizzy episodes. Sometimes they are serious vertigo, vomiting for 4 hours, room spinning events. I am worried it's Ajovy-related and, I can deal with migraines, but vertigo is not easy. So, as effective as it seemed to be, I am going to have to switch it out. Sorry, Ajovy."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had a strange history with migraines. I had them for a whole year in high school almost every day, and then they completely disappeared for three years. Then they came back with a vengeance. I’d have them about 4 times a week. Unable to move, nausea, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, etc. I started Ajovy a month ago, and I got my second injection today. Does anyone else have excruciating pain when you inject yourself? It feels like acid burning me! It is a subcutaneous injection, and those hurt less than your average vaccine or blood work, but this is like nothing I have ever experienced. Anyway, in my first month, I had one day where I was extremely dizzy, and I had no idea why, but I see here that this is a common trend. I feel nausea on and off. I am slowly gaining weight, but I’m eating healthier than I had before I was on Ajovy. I got my second injection today, and it was so painful. I’m laying in bed, and my whole body is sore and in pain. My feet have terrible circulation."

For Migraine Prevention "After reading others' comments, I feel relieved and not alone. I had been struck in the head by an airbag three years ago. This caused reoccurring headaches. I was prescribed Ajovy with a promise of only soreness at the injection site. The day after the injection, my muscles cramped, and I couldn’t move my fingers in both hands without severe pain. Then came deep bone aches, joint pain, muscle twitching and spasms, vertigo, crashing fatigue, bloating, anxiety, confusion, and memory problems, making it difficult to work and join activities. I assumed these were due to the J&J vaccine, both within days of each other. Prior to this, I hadn’t been to a doctor in 8 years. I wound up in the hospital when my balance was bad, and I was having trouble getting my words out clearly. I went through a battery of blood tests and MRIs to rule out disorders like MS, ALS, RA, and lupus - negative. I only took the one shot, and it took me 7 months to feel better! Frustrated that this drug is being prescribed without more study."

For Migraine Prevention "I had one injection of Ajovy in June. I had very severe dizziness and balance issues. Depression and anxiety very bad (I have been on meds for bipolar for 12 years). I decided not to do the second month of injection. Just mild headaches. I think since I am a small person in size that this amount of the drug is too high for me. Also, I am in physical therapy, and it helps with the balance problems. I see the neurologist in August, wary of saying yes to the 2nd one. Also, I have severe neck pain too. Thanks for all the information on this site."

For Migraine Prevention "Yesterday I took my first Ajovy shot, and minutes after, I started to feel really, really bad... all of a sudden, I felt high, really hot, lost vision and hearing, had crazy pain all over my body, and fainted. My boyfriend called the emergency immediately because he thought I might be experiencing some strange allergic reaction and told me later I was having spasms while I passed out for a few seconds. When the ambulance came, I was already feeling better but still very dizzy and weak, and couldn't communicate clearly. They told me this drug is very new and they didn't know what they could do, and if I was not experiencing trouble breathing, then I should just go to sleep and wait for it to go away. I got so scared for my life and thought I ruined it in just a few seconds of taking the shot. While I was fainting, I thought I was going to die. After reading all the other reviews, I am scared of the upcoming side effects..."

For Migraine Prevention "After many years of suffering head pain, I was started on Ajovy injections after Botox therapy had started to become less effective. I was told no side effects whatsoever. It was a miracle medication's breakthrough. I tried to find out about any problems with this injection but couldn't find anything significant. I am always very cautious when I am told 'no side effects' with any drug. However, I had the Ajovy injection, and within 24 hours, I was experiencing terrible side effects: palpitations, profuse sweating, bad stomach, severe bloatedness, dizziness, mental health weakness in my legs that I was unable to walk properly, blurred vision, fever, nausea. It was absolutely horrendous. I was promised this all had nothing to do with Ajovy and was told to take the second injection, which I did, but the same worsening side effects occurred: weight gain instant, 7 lbs in a month, tummy huge bloating. Totally horrified by this drug. I have never experienced being so ill on a medication as I have with Ajovy."
