Febuxostat for Gout "I started on Uloric due to having an allergic reaction to allopurinol. Well, the 2nd day on it, I broke out in a small rash, not very noticeable, and the 3rd day I have a burning, painful rash all over my body! My face started swelling, and the slightest touch feels like someone is ripping my skin. I was told to stop immediately, and now it's the waiting game for the reaction to go away now :("

For Gout "Been taking 80 mg of Uloric daily for 7 years (40 mg wasn't doing much). Uric acid was 8 and flaring plus tophi, etc. Now uric acid is 3 and tophi has disappeared, no flares, and I eat everything. Also take 0.5 mcg colchicine (Colcrys) every other day, which helps deal with inflammation, I guess. I might even lose some weight eventually, which would be interesting to see if the gout is controlled without meds."

Febuxostat for Gout "I started taking Uloric 5 weeks ago. It seems to be working alright. I have tried several medicines for this ailment: allopurinol, colchicine, steroids, Vicodin. It took me a week to get off those, had bad reactions on allopurinol i.e. rashes, swelling of the stomach, and lips. Colchicine caused diarrhea so bad I couldn't work. Anyway, Uloric has been pretty effective so far. I have also tried apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and herbal remedies, none as effective as Uloric. The only drawback is I don't have insurance, and Uloric is $200.00 for a 30-day supply."
